Extension and reconfiguration of a protected town house The existing townhouse was a protected building that had fallen into disrepair, with some incongruous alterations made over previous decades. Relocating a new kitchen, dining and living space into a single-storey extension with direct access onto the landscaped garden released the existing house to be restored to its original proportions and traditional detailing. #guernsey #guernseylife #guernseyliving #guernseyarchitecture #dlmarchitects #modernarchitect #archdaily #channelislands #jersey #jerseyarchitecture #architectureworld #instarchitecture #reusearchitecture #conservationarchitecture

PLANNING APPROVED. Planning permission has been granted for our new build family home on Guernsey's west coast. The building is wrapped by a robust granite structure to shield the prevailing weather and increase privacy from the road. The building benefits from natural light throughout the day, solar gains, through ventilation, and the enjoyment of views from a range of internal and external spaces. A sustainable home, designed to meet the needs of modern living whilst respecting the surrounding context. #guernseyarchitecture #dlmarchitects #guernsey #modernarchitecture #architecture4all #superarchitects #archdaily #familyhome #creativearchitecture #architecturefactor #designmilk #newbuild #Jersey #architecturefactory #architectureworld #homeadore #interior #designwanted #amazingarchitecture #instaarchitecture #architecturetrend #channelislands #westisbest #guernseyarchitecture #seaviews

From a hand-built scale model to a vibrant building at the heart of our community. A demonstration of how an ambitious project can successfully transition from concept to completion. #vivelavallette #guernseybathingpools #RIBA #RIBAJournal #RIBAJ #RIBAJBuildings #DLM #DLMarchitects #buildings #design #architects #architectsUK #architecturephotography #photography #architecturelovers #channelislands #guernsey #architecturemodels #architecturemaquette #modelmaking #models_architecture 📸 @landers_photos

Last week we were excited to see The Bathing Pools feature in the Royal Institute of British Architects Journal - reaching the top spot as the most popular article on their website. We are delighted to see this important project being recognised for the true community collaboration that it became. ‘La Vallette’s revival is Guernsey’s latest exciting asset. What adds to the brilliance of this building and place is not just that it is clearly a well-loved and great place for a swim, now year-round. It’s how it came together from this partnership of energetic and imaginative local people as one of the island’s first public-private initiatives. At 14.5km wide, #guernsey is a small place. On arriving at the airport to the sight of many fossil-fuel cars, you can’t help feel that if such thinking were applied to other areas – buildings but also infrastructure, energy and industry – the island could be so much more. Maybe even Guernsey as an exemplary eco-paradise.’ – Isabelle Priest, RIBA Journal 📖@ribajournal 📸@landers_photos #vivelavallette #guernseybathingpools #riba #ribajournal #ribaj #RIBAJBuildings #dlm #dlmarchitects #buildings #design #architects #bathingpools #architectsUK #architecturephotography #outdoorswimming #photography #architecturelovers #channelislands #guernsey

PLANNING SUBMITTED We have submitted plans for our client's new build family home on Guernsey's spectacular West Coast. The design proposes a family home, primarily on a single level, with small level changes to break down the overall perceived mass and stagger the volumes into the topography of the surrounding context. It offers lifetime enjoyment and accessibility within rational linear forms that settle into the landscape and levels of the site. Due to the sloping nature of the property, and significant flood risk, the habitable accommodation is located within single storey volumes spanning over a granite plinth that grounds the dwelling and reflects the surrounding coastal palette of rock and shale. The overall mass is further broken with a complimentary material palette of Guernsey granite, natural lime render and naturally weathered timber. #minimalarchitecture #minimaldesign #minimaldesigns #minimalinterior #minimalhome #minimalisthome #architecture_minimal #minimalistarchitecture #arch #architect #architects #architecture_hunter #greenarchitecture #archidaily #archlovers #architecturelovers #modernarchitecture #modernarchitecture #modernhousedesign #modernhouse #modernhouses #exteriors #architecturevisualization #architecturerender #riba #ribasoutheast #guernsey

PLANNING APPROVED We finish the week with another approval for our clients new build home. This new build house, which replaces their existing property provides a sustainable, low maintenance and accessible home for lifetime enjoyment. The material palette is a combination of local Guernsey granite, charred natural timber and bronze. #guernseylife #guernseyliving #guernseyarchitecture #dlmarchitects #modernarchitect #archdaily #channelislands #jersey #jerseyarchitecture #architectureworld #instarchitecture #architecturerender #architcturelover
