Quick review of the @charlottetilbury #PillowTalk #PushUpLashes mascara. I bought a mini as mostly I prefer mini/deluxe sizes for mascara since I religiously throw them out every 3 months. And I find a lot of product gets wasted in the full sizes. This one started out very impressive with a lot of product in the wand but I could easily work with it and control how it deposited. In a couple of weeks, I struggle to even get any product out. My theory is that there is too little product in there or that it dries ridiculously fast. I think the former is probably true. Tell me u love something without telling me u love something…I will go first Stubby pencils that cannot be sharpened anymore and when products have to be scooped out, it can only mean one thing - you love them to death (literally 💀⚰️😂) My ride or die are (from left to right) Nars Chubby Lip Pencil in Bahama Nars Lipliner in Gordes Urban Decay 24/7 Gel Liner in Uzi (a sparkly smutty grey) Cle de Peau Concealer Stick in Honey for NC 40-42 Because they are nearly over, they lie in my last resort bag, in this rectangular metal case from Nudestix which has a nice mirror. I love it so much, I got a mini trio just for its baby size. What can I say I love miniatures ♥️ And everything was going well till I found that Nars lipliners are now discontinued. Thankfully I have one backup for my favourite one. I see the love for @patmcgrathreal and @charlottetilbury lipliners but @narsissist ones were my favourites - intensely pigmented, creamy, long lasting but not drying. I actually could use them over 24 months as advertised 😏 I guess shit happens! Tell me ur ride or die please 🙏🏽

All my life I have wanted kajals/kohls/liners: 1️⃣ with gorgeous colours that show up on my brown skin tone, 2️⃣ are easy to apply in the waterline & on the lids and 3️⃣ last long and last well on my eyes i.e. no raccoon eyes 🐼 Usually one or two of the above would happen but never all three. I am so delighted to say that finally after all these years, the @charlottetilbury colour liner magic duo has made my wishlist come true. I randomly bought these two shades in Singapore. Loved that one side was metallic and one was matte. The metallics are the true jewel tones I love and seek. Being dual sided gives u choice and is less space consuming. The true test of these was when I would do a full winged liner look i.e. both on the lids and in and below waterline in 35 degrees Istanbul and then head out for the day. Other than the odd time when I rubbed it off unintentionally, they would last all bloody day. Mind you I have hooded eyes and oily lids so very few things last anyways but surviving under the sweltering conditions was a shocker. I dunno whether they will dry out soon since they are long lasting but I don’t care. Not a makeup/brush post but this @mujiindia organiser has changed my life and is one that I have used every single day for almost 5 years now. I own a lot of silver jewellery (mainly earrings) and this display and organiser helps me pick out what I want every morning. I have other ones for rings, necklaces, etc. from Muji itself. I try to colour coordinate and it also helps me put back things in their place instead of keeping them in catch-alls and having to sort later. A missing item is easy to spot too 😜 Over the years, I have become the “see it, use it” person instead of putting things away even if they are nicely organised, in drawers where I cannot see them. The bonus, shut it and no dust gets into it (well almost). That is another new mantra of my life, display it but cover it so I don’t grow old removing dust n lint from everything. My recent addition is the Sonia G @sweetmakeuptemptations Portable Organiser from @beautylish So this had to come on my maiden trip this year to Bombay. I mostly took Sonia’s two recent brush sets with me, apart from 1-2 portable brushes. These were the Fusion Series and the Keyaki Brush Set. More thoughts on these later. But first the pouch, I really loved all the pouches Sonia launched in the Companion Case Collection. But there is no doubt these are very expensive vs. what is in the market in terms of brush holders, cases, pouches. So as much as I wanted everything, I decided to pick up one for now. And my choice was governed by what I don’t have. The portable organiser was an easy choice because it flat folds when empty and I really like the flexibility of creating customised sections through the Velcro attachments. You can see from the pics that it could easily hold 20+ mixed brushes (large n small). But the nice thing is that even if it isn’t full, which mine wasn’t, it wasn’t wobbly. And of course while doing ur makeup or generally, you can use it to hold other things like mascara, liner, tweezer, etc. Yay for that! And the pouch it came in was also a lovely surprise. It is lovely addition to my ridiculous pouch collection which could have an IG account of its own. Fusion Series - Being a cream/liquid friendly set interested me a lot since with fude my focus has been on squirrel hair for a long time. So I tend to feel that I don’t have enough natural hair brushes for cream/liquid. And it was with that feeling, that I came around to buying the set and am really glad, as I am already wanting a few backups 🤗 Keyaki Set - I love portable & travel brushes and even though these don’t have covers/lids, their miniature sizes are too adorable. The handles are also a nice departure from most of the stuff I own. Very happy owning both these sets. A parcel from @fudejapan after so long!!! And this post is dedicated to @smitadesouza who was the 1 person who voted against the sneak peek cz she knows my frequency of posting all too well. But I am improving, aren’t I?? It started with Chikuhodo Kazan Squirrel KZ06 as I wanted to try this hair out. I cannot rank all my squirrel hair brushes yet as I feel the differences in softness are not that stark. Application will be another story, I know. And in terms of softness, this one is no exception, it felt like a fluffy pillow when I tried it on the eyelid. Coming to the next, I got FOMO about the Hakuhodo Kolinsky as they may get discontinued, so I ordered these two - S120 and S141. These may be my first kolinsky and I can see why they would work well for creams. The hair has a snap to it. It feels close to a synthetic. I don’t think this can become my favourite brush hair though. Chikuhodo GSN02 has been on my mind for about 8-9 years. A little chat with @makeupbrushjournal and I decided it was time to pull the plug. And first impressions are that it is softer than I imagined it for goat hair (Sokouhou -Quality Goat as per Chikuhodo’s site) and it is quite dense & firm. I think I will use it for powder foundation though you can use it with cream and liquids also. Fude Japan S: One day while sorting my drawers, I saw my Suqqu sets and how perfect the squirrel set is with the exception of the missing S which was discontinued before I really got into fudes. So I got this, as I understand that Toshiya’s set is based on the Suqqu original set (Squirrel). Also it may be a good time to mention that Suqqu goat is probably my least favourite brush set ever!! Eihodo brush guards cz they are red ♥️ And finally a Paulomia M box to store some of my more precious brushes. Barely making my submission for #FudeAwards2021 week 7 : Brushes you have duplicates of and why My list is long and I have also taken the liberty of including brushes that are are not made in Japan (non-fude) These are: ▪️Surratt Cheek - fabulous multi-tasking pom pom medium size. Love the hair quality of Surratt, this one is ultra soft squirrel ▪️ Koyudo Fu-pa 14 - fabulous multi-tasking pom pom large size ▪️ Wayne Goss 02, 07 and 08 from the original set ▪️Hakuhodo S/B/J 104 - mad love at one point, now I find it too big to use frequently. May be good for finishing ▪️Chikuhodo Takumi T6 - great for under eye as the hair is soft and shape is a bit pointy but not exactly candle ▪️ Sonia G Mini Cheek - the closest to real techniques setting brush in natural hair ▪️Koyudo BP039 - probably the only one I have with Tamage hair that I love for smudging around lash line ▪️ Tom Ford 13 - favourite blender in goat and synthetic versions ▪️ Sonia G Blender Pro - felt closest to WG 19 from his original set, another favourite of mine that I unfortunately don’t have a back up for ▪️ MAC 239 and Haku 004 that are quite similar ▪️ MAC 217 that is great to swipe and also blend ▪️ Koyudo C011 - a great soft pencil brush ▪️ Real Techniques Setting Brush - one of my absolute favourites for anything n everything ▪️ Artis Oval 7 for the easiest foundation application ▪️Artis Palm - back up cz the first one I use to apply body lotions n creams as I hate that greasy feeling on my hands. I know we are on week 5 of #fudeawards2021 but I am kinda still on week 1 I posted about #fupa14 from Koyudo which is Squirrel and goat mix as one of my favourite brushes in that hair type. If I could pick dyed goat as a category, I would hands down pick the relevant brushes from Wayne Goss’ first sets, back then they were called #waynegossfaceset and #waynegosseyeset. I believe these were tea dyed giving them the glorious brown look instead of the usual black we see for dyed (goat) brushes. It saddens me deeply that these brushes are not available anymore. But the reason I post this is if ever anyone lets go of their brushes then may be it helps someone. Also I think it is fair to say, I would love some backups myself. I suppose many will put Sonia G’s dyed goat on the same level and may be rightfully so. But to me the Wayne Goss handles are more practical and I have had them longer so intuitively I reach for them more because I know what I am looking for. I have an assorted Sonia G collection with different handles in terms of length, colour, width and the texture. And personally I have never got on with the naming so I have to look at my drawer to figure out what I am looking for. I hope this changes as time goes on. My favourites: #waynegoss13 - this started a love affair…To have the best and most efficient pom pom in a medium-long handle. I hate to say this but this has no equal. #waynegoss16 - I love this stubby shape. I have similar ones from Hakuhodo (I think 212/214) but I find them pokey relative to this WG. Another testament to the quality of the hair from this set. #waynegoss19 : I must have around a 100 (or may be more 🙊) eyeshadow blending brushes but there is something about this that makes blending effortless. I think the weight and the dimensions of both ferrule and handle do have a big hand in that. I can compare some specs in a separate post if anyone cares. I did something!!! 🙈🙊🙉 First I contributed in a very unplanned way to @fluffyfude’s crowdsourcing of categories for #FudeAwards2021 Then I actually went through my drawers (and I am talking a lot of drawers here) to shortlist contenders for such a ridiculously tough category - favourite hair type & why & favourite brush in this hair type And then I took some pictures 📸 But most important of all is that I am actually posting. Those who follow me that I post only on some special occasions like the Lunar Eclipse or something🤦🏽‍♀️ Anyways before I run out of caption space, let me tell you that this is JUST ONE of my favourite hair type coz I really don’t think I can pick one. Different brushes with different shapes for different uses with different products in different condtions make it nearly impossible for me to pick one in such a wide category. So I will start with one of my earliest loves and one that continues to this day. The category is Squirrel + Goat and the brush is Koyudo Fu-pa 14. Not the flat base version or the white version but this exact one with green shimmering bits like it belongs in a beautiful galaxy far far away. As per @cdjapan_beauty this is Gray Squirrel + Baby Goat Chest Hair with a softness rating of 8 on 10. I love it for powder foundations, setting/finishing powder, blush, bronzer. Over the years I have moved to more cream or liquid products so this is not used as much as I did back in the day as my single brush for most of my face. The beauty of this brush is that it is a pom-pom but not exactly, has the softness of squirrel which doesn’t irritate my very sensitive skin but has the resilience of goat which gives it a lovely spring. I could just buff it on my face with no product just for the ecstasy of it. Fude lovers tend to play with brushes like that a lot in case people don’t know that. Winter picks from end of last year that are going with me into summer since we seem to have completely skipped spring here in Delhi 🥵 Three years ago my skin was a complete mess and the only two things that worked for me were 1) @mahalo.care rare indigo balm and 2) a salicylic acid based cleanser (tip courtesy @poofie.peej ) I skipped getting rare indigo in the winter of 2019 and I really missed it all of last year. Of course the pandemic added to my skin being stressed. So late last year, I placed an order and this pot will last me for some time to come. Also got the Winter Grace which is a seasonal product and Vitality Elixir Serum. Have to use those more to see how they work for me. For now I am just glad to be reunited with Rare Indigo and its intoxicating scent 😇🙏🏽

Here is my submission for @koyudo quality discussion happening in the fude community 🤗 This is a preowned treasure, the Koyudo Canadian Squirrel Momiji Face Brush (Small) that I acquired in early 2019. @sarahbrushlover may pitch in on when it was bought/made. Honestly I never thought I would buy a preowned brush but I have come around to the idea and how. We all agree quality of hair was better in the old days (depending on manufacturer and what stock they had/have) so instead of fuelling a crazy demand/supply mismatch and exorbitant price rises, buying a brush that someone else is ok to let go seems like a good idea to me. And I must add receiving this brush in flawless condition, that too with the original box has made me a convert. Coming to the hot topic of quality - Just looking at the pictures of other similar brushes, I think we can all agree that the design is not as fine and intricate.
