Meet Sheba, the creative entrepreneur behind the Grenadian all natural skincare brand OMI (@omigrenada ), recently featured in Harpers Bazaar UK! OMI is an acronym that stands for Only Mother Earth’s Ingredients. After giving birth to her daughter two things became very clear- she would only use the cleanest and most simply formulated skin care products for her newborn, and, a consistent self-care practice was a mother’s lifeline. With those two things in mind OMI was created. Sheba is passionate about self-care and the rituals we create to incorporate a self-care practices into our daily lives. She created OMI all natural skin loving formulas to become a simple and effective addition to her customer’s skin self care rituals. Her products are ideal for the entire family. Over the years she has researched locally grown and processed skincare ingredients including cocoa butter, coconut oil, honey and even blackstrap molasses. She found out just how potent these ingredients are and based her formulas on them- unlike mass produced skincare where these ingredients are used in small quantities. She purchases many of her organic ingredients from local businesses- ensuring that her chain of supply stimulates the local community. With a passion for nature, environmental conservation and sustainability she has also committed to packaging all her products and self-care gift sets and kits as sustainably as possible using reusable glass jars, tins and paper. She also offers a refill incentive to her customers where they can return jars and get them refilled with Whipped Body Butter at a discount. Seven Sisters Waterfall is located within the Grand Etang Forest Reserve, in the center of the Island. It is a series of waterfalls and cascades that range from medium difficulty to challenging, with the first two being the easier of the 7. The first two falls are approximately a 30-minute hike down steep steps, so appropriate footwear is recommended. If you are looking to adventure, this hike is a combination of dense forests, winding trails along river coasts, calm swimming pools at waterfall bases, and picturesque scenery. Meet Joachim (pronounced Jow-aa-kim), the vegan chef that everyone is talking about! Joachim launched his famous Beet Burger in 2020, introducing his creative plant-based alternatives and winning the hearts (and stomachs!) of people of all dietary preferences. "I grew up in the heart of the city of St. George's where I roam around the empty city on Sundays with my friends, play cricket and other games in the yard with friends from all over the town and play basketball as a hobby. At the age of 9 I started learning the basics of cooking from my Mom, until eventually she trusted me to cook for the whole family at around 15 years old. After finishing secondary school, food still wasn't my main passion. I visited Guyana for 8 months and worked at a bakery and local restaurant there where I learnt more about cooking, but the majority of my skills and knowledge came from my mom and I just being in the kitchen every day at home. About 2 years ago I started selling Aloo Pies as a side-hustle at my workplace (Maurice Bishop Airport) and other business places in Grand Anse. My colleagues would always tell me how good my food was when I brought my breakfast and lunch to work. After just 3 days of selling Aloo Pies in St. George's and Grand Anse I realised, not only how fast the sales were happening but how much everyone actually loved the taste and kept coming back.
