Via @isabelladavis6 I know how it feels to step out of the shower and fear the mirror. Fear your n*kdness. There’s something incredibly vulnerable about looking at your n*ked body. No matter how many times you have been n*de before, it’s an uncomfortable feeling when your body feels softer than usual. This feeling Is something I used to fear. I would feel awkward in my own body and emotionally exposed. Numerous thoughts would run through my mind. All centred around my body insecurities. ‘Have I gained new stretch marks? Does my stomach stick out further than it used to? Is my weight gain noticeable?’ I pondered. All while fearing my the answer to my thoughts. I became so afraid to look at my body I would turn the tap on before I went into the shower so the mirrors would fog and I couldn’t see my reflection. It saddens me to admit that for a long time there, I had forgotten what my n*ked body looked like since I never took the time to admire it. To be honest, I still do experience moments of insecurity while being n*ked. But I no longer fear my n*ked body. If you’ve experienced similar feelings, then I need you to know this. Your n*kedness is nothing to fear. Instead of facing away from the mirror, I urge you to greet her. Run your hands along every lump, stretch mark and roll. Explore your body and try and see the beauty within every crease and fold. Take a moment to reminisce on all the incredible moments you have experienced because of your body. But most importantly remember to go easy on yourself and show your body love because we all need more love.

Via @roseoates_ It kind of makes me cringe looking back at the things I held myself back from, or didn’t do, the experiences I missed out on and the time I cannot get back - the energy spent fixated around my body. This isnt about a certain body type. It can affect anyone. I worried about my body in my teens, pre kids and then was hit with postpartum and pressures to bounce back and the thoughts around ageing. These words from Emma Thompson really hit a chord for me. The time, the energy, the effort and the passion we spend not accepting our bodies... oooofff tell me I’m wrong but how many of us 100% know exactly what she means. I get it though we live in a world where not a lot has changed in regards to the ‘standards’ or demands around women’s bodies and the way they apparently should look. Look to be honest I don’t know if I’ll ever completely be free of worrying about my body, or from time to time having the feeling of disappointment in something I see in the mirror creep back up on me... I’ll acknowledge it, but I know this, I will refuse to let it linger, spend too much of the only thing I can’t earn back, my precious TIME, my life. I look at my daughters and refuse to let those thoughts stop me from enjoying time in the sun, in the bikini, having adventures with them. I remind myself what I would want for them. How I would want them to feel. It’s not about being brave or extreme confidence, it can be incredibly hard - I know it has been for me. It’s not about fat or thin. It’s not about all or nothing. It’s about freedom. It’s about spending our time differently, spending more of it on joy. Spending it on living well. Cause time is the one thing, that once it’s spent, we can never get it back. and Im going to choose to spend it little more wisely from now on. Via @isabelladavis6 ・・・ When I was 12 I used to avoid wearing tight jeans and gym shorts because you could visibly see my vulva and I was told that was shameful. At 14 I wanted a labiaplasty to shorten my labia as I thought it was abnormal and unattractive because it stuck out. When I was 18 a partner mentioned how weird it is that my labia hangs out. At 19 the p0r* industry convinced me that pubic hair wasn’t attractive so therefore I shaved mine and was left with angry red bumps across my vulva. Growing up I had only ever seen a handful of vulvas represented in the media, and they were always perfectly symmetrical, hairless, bump-free, neat and small. Not an accurate representation of what vulvas can look like. Throughout my teen years and into my early 20s I felt embarrassed and insecure about my vulva. So much that I would attempt to tuck my inner labia in whenever I was about to be intimate with another. Feeling insecure about our vulvas is something I’m sure many of us can relate to. But I’m here to remind you that all vulvas are normal! Each vulva looks different from one another and It’s perfectly normal if you have a dangly labia, puffy labia or tucked-in labia. It’s okay if your labia sticks out past your outer labia like mine does or if your inner labia is more tucked in. It’s normal for your vulva to be asymmetrical, darker in some parts or if you have a prominent clitoral hood. Vulvas come in a range of different colours and sizes. So does pubic hair. Your vulva isn’t ugly and you deserve to embrace your vulva because all vulvas are unique, different, worthy and normal.
