Belize 🇧🇿 plays El Salvador 🇸🇻 at 4:00PM today. Last night, Nicaragua won their opening match against Belize in a hard fought battle of four sets 3-1 (27-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23) with very close scores throughout the game. Nicaragua recovered from a five-point deficit (16-21) to win an extended first set. Team Belize came out stronger in the second set, with top scorers Karym Coleman, Francis Hauze and Bryton Codd attacking over the net. Belize led 59-55 in attacks and by a huge 12-6 margin in blocks; Nicaragua performed better in serves with 4-2 advantage. Belizean opposite hitter Karym Coleman scored an impressive 30 points all on kills, followed by outside hitter Francis Hauze with 18 points including 5 blocks, and Bryton Codd tallied 15 points including 2 aces. Let’s go Belize! 🇧🇿👏💯 Men’s Volleyball National Team Heads to Guatemala City for Central American Championship October 29, 2021 — The Men’s Volleyball National Team will compete in the XXI Central American Men’s Volleyball Championship in Guatemala City, Guatemala from October 30 – November 5, 2021 at the Domo Polideportivo de la CDAG. All Central American countries are registered for the competition (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama). Team Belize is led by Captain Elton Anderson. The other members are: Yserri Palacio, Francis Hauze, Lirisi Cayetano, Daril Avila, Alwyn Mahung, Kerwin Palacio, Karym Coleman, Mikey Jenkins, Edgar Martinez, Bryton Codd, and Tyrell Lucario. The coaches are Albert Humes, Derrick Morgan and Wallace Tillett. The Referee is Anthony McField and the Head of Delegation and Covid Official is Javier "Ozzy" Canul. “Our players are arriving in Guatemala City this week, some left Belize yesterday, and some depart today. Three of our home grown athletes (Bryton Codd, Francis Hauze and Michael Jenkins) already arrived from the US to join the team in Guatemala”, commented Allan Sharp, President of the Belize Volleyball Association. “One player is arriving from Canada on Saturday (Karym Coleman) in time to play in the first match. The team has been training as best as possible considering the COVID-19 restrictions. The full team was able to practice together for a part of the summer, including the players that are coming in from abroad. Welcome to Day 3 of the XXI Central American Women’s Volleyball Championship in Managua, Nicaragua. Today Belize plays its second match at 1:00PM against Honduras. Yesterday was one of the toughest games of the tournament for Belize. Today is a new day and Team Belize just needs to find its focus and rhythm. Costa Rica, a great team, won 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-13). They stuck to their game plan yesterday and took advantage of defensive schemes and hit away from the Belizean block, showing respect and recognition that Belize is a very dangerous team when the players are on top of their game. The Belize Volleyball Association is proud to share that its members, including athletes, officials, administrators etc. have been getting vaccinated. In a recent survey of its members countrywide, almost 90% are vaccinated. Almost all members of our national teams are also vaccinated. Congratulations to Francis Hauze and Edgar Martinez on signing letters of commitment to become student athletes at Calumet College of St Joseph in Indiana, USA. Both are volleyball national team athletes, and will be pursuing Bachelor degrees in Graphic Design. The Belize Volleyball Association wishes them both much success on this new path. The BVA athletes commission election will be held tomorrow from 8:00 AM Saturday, Feb. 20th through to 5:00 PM Sunday Feb, 21st. 2021 to elect 1 male and 1 female representative for Volleyball and 1 male and 1 female representative for Beach Volleyball. At the close of registration, the BVA received the following: Volleyball: 2 male candidates (Elton Anderson, Jeffrey Dueck) and 1 female candidate (Shantell Arnold). Beach Volleyball: 3 male candidates (Baydr Sajia, Bryton Codd, Gabriel “Gaby” Nunez). The election platform will open for voting only to voters who registered by the deadline. The online election platform link and the individual Voter Key will be sent to each voter to the email they registered. The election platform will close on Sunday, Feb. 21st, at 5:00 pm. Volleyball registered voters will elect 1 male representative from the 2 male candidates for Volleyball. Since Shantell Arnold is the only female candidate, she will become the female representative of Volleyball on the Athletes Commission. Beach Volleyball registered voters will elect 1 male representative from the 3 male candidates for Beach Volleyball. Since there are no female candidates, the BVA Board of Administration will nominate a female representative to the Athletes Commission. Registered athletes should check their emails for the link to the online election platform and for their Voter Key. For athletes registered for both Volleyball and Beach Volleyball, separate email links will be sent to vote in each category. The information and voting instructions will be emailed prior to the launch time of the election. We encourage the over 70 registered athlete voters to participate and elect your representative to the BVA Athletes Commission.

Athletes are the core, focus, and main attraction of any sport. We encourage volleyball and beach volleyball athletes to offer themselves as candidates for the Athletes Commission and to register to vote for their representatives on February 20th and 21st, 2021.
