From day one people have always reacted in a different way to Diamonds than they do other songs. A different energy. Like a coming together kinda thing it’s hard to put into words but you feel it. Chanting it with 100,000 in the national stadium across the back from my wee granny’s window took it to a different emotional level tbh. I can handle most situations no problem but that was a bit overwhelming tbh. Erratic 5 yr Anniversary Few fun album facts. Majority of the album was recorded in a wee flat. The other half in a studio. Bought an old Mac and some mics and stayed up for months trying to get my head around using Apple for the first time. Room acoustics, recording, mixing, mastering and everything in between. The album was released on its own with no label or marketing or radio or management or plans to even do anything other than satisfy all the folk wanting the tunes. Weeks before the release I was waking up in my flat to the sound of massive pallets of CDs and records getting dumped in my street. All needing moved, unboxed, unsealed, signed, resealed, packaged and posted all over the world. On the off days I wasn’t unloading and packing, I was standing half baked in a newsagent post office with only one free counter, annoying all the old ladies by holding up the queue from dawn till dusk with big black bags full of CDs. Was slow torture. Throughout this debacle I was staying awake and crashing for a day or two. Two mornings in a row I slept in and missed the post office and the deadline was slipping. Third morning i slept in again and jumped a taxi with a few hours left before closing. Enough time to do at least 100 +. It was raining heavy. When I got there the shops were cordoned off by police cars and blue tape. Instead of soaking up the rain with my trainers I dipped under the police tape to get posting. There i met a lovely copper screaming and waving a spring baton. After almost getting the jail my big daft cardboard bags started melting and filling up with water. I accepted the loss and bailed. Was told later it was an armed robbery I was trying to involve myself in with my big daft bags full o wet cds like a head case. Luckily the packages were waterproof and got wiped dry and delivered. That’s a wee snippet of the backstory to Erratic. Never really got into it cos the story’s fucking ridiculous. I’ll get into the rest of it at another time. Well that was a trip and a half. Played all sorts of gigs all over the world but that was something else. National stadium rocking from top to bottom, side to side, front to back. Even the stewards were dancing. That’s what it’s all about. Shout out to my elite band and crew who love their job and are loved for it. Shout out to my production team who helped put the whole tour together. Special people who care about what they’re doing and do it well. Everything I’ve ever been looking for. Shout out to the unsung who helped rig the stage together and set the place up. The security, the stewards, the bar staff and the folk who cleaned up at the end. Everyone plays a part in some way. Shout out to the people who love their tunes. Music is a magical thing that connects people in a special way. There were people from all over the world there at the weekend all singing and dancing to the same vibe. Wish my wee granny was here to see it. She stayed out the back of Hampden and used to love sitting listening to the concerts while shouting at maniacs trying to piss in her garden. A razor sharp lady with quality patter. Miss her big time. Hope you all had a class weekend and enjoyed the music and the visuals and the pyro and the smoke and the fireworks. 😂 2 year wait. Was well worth it. Still haven’t processed how good it actually was. History made. Memories made more important. Felt the Hampden roar right in my chest and it was mighty. Incredible man. Quiet weekend. 😂 Didn’t think it would be that emotional tbh. Not easy to process let alone put into words. The vibe and volume was indescribable.
