En 1950, il commence la série des «Hommage au Carré ». Le mode opératoire est assez simple: trois ou quatre carrés colorés s'emboîtent. Ils sont centrés verticalement, mais décalés horizontalement vers le bas du tableau (de format carré lui aussi). De retour en Californie en 1964, il consacre une série à Angela Davis, militante communiste féministe et membre des Black Panthers, alors en prison. Dans « Bewtiful & Stwong », titre à l'ironie critique, il l'associe à une autre icône du Black Power, le boxeur Mohamed Ali, dans une parodie de crucifixion. Nature morte ou paysage urbain ? 🤔 À l'automne 1917, Fernand Léger, animé d’une furieuse envie de rattraper le temps perdu, reprend les recherches plastiques qu'il avait dû interrompre au moment de sa mobilisation en 1914. Il fait une série de petites peintures aux couleurs éclatantes, inspirées par les objets de son quotidien. Parmi eux, le pot à tisane est difficilement repérable tant il se fond dans une composition dynamique et joyeuse où s'entremêlent motifs décoratifs, formes géométriques et caractères typographiques.
