I LOVE how this cutie turned out! 👩🏻🎨Originally I was going to paint the top but I just prefer the look & durability of a wooden surface so I sanded it down and found this beautiful hardwood hiding in plain sight! I also became a pirate in the process 🤣😭🏴☠️ (see stories)

Where I’ve been spending most of my days 💭
This cozy corner in our kitchen is one of my go-to spots, and where I spend A LOT of my time (working, eating, looking out the window and dreaming of spring, writing this caption 😅).
When we first walked into this house, I immediately imagined a dreamy nook area in this exact spot by the window (it gets the perfect light). So as soon as it was ours, we added a built-in banquette, soft wallpaper, a bunch of throw pillows and the rest is history!

Why I DIY?
I think DIY has a time & a place and it’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea. I have a few golden rules for when something is worth my time & effort to do it myself.
1. I can’t find my vision in stores or online. I’m particularly specific when it comes to color and sometimes that means getting out the paint and making my own perfect shade.
2. What I want is out of my budget or just not worth the spend. If I can make it myself for a fraction of the price why not.
3. It’s fun! I know not everyone would agree with my idea of a good time but honestly there’s nothing more satisfying than a vision coming to life.
What do you think or my diy bread boards? Ive had my eye on a similar designer version for months now but I didn’t want just white (my kitchen has enough beautiful white tones) and the blue just wasn’t quite right. So I decided I would keep my eyes out for the right shape & scale of wood boards and attempt to make my own custom version. Now if you know the boards I’m talking about I think you will see I took the inspiration but didn’t copy them exactly. I spent $60 and a few hours of my time and I couldn’t be happier. I love the subtle touch of color for spring.
I’ll post the how to in my stories today in case you too have been inspired and want to try making a set for your kitchen.

This weekend we went biking on a new path and I came across a new @littlefreelibrary (not this one pictured).
I wanted to stop but then said, “hey, I’ll check it out on the way back!” But…. did not go the same way back…(in fact we got stuck in a torrential downpour and my fiancé had to bike home and get me in the car but that’s a whole different story🤣)
Moral of the story, always check out the little free library.

✨ORC WEEK 1 - Mood-board(s) ✨
Can someone please tell me how I went from doing a simple room refresh to doing a room and closet makeover?! 😳 Not sure what I got myself into ... 🤣
My husband and I started this room refresh about 2 months ago but haven’t finished much due to various reasons. So we thought the ORC would be the perfect push to get us to the finish line! This is the second time we are participating in the @oneroomchallenge (@betterhomesandgardens ) and we are so excited to be able to join. 😁
This mood-board for my parents in laws bedroom was a bit of a struggle for me to make as there were a lot of moving parts. But I am so happy with how it turned out. The room is quite large so I divided the space into two smaller spaces which made the design process easier.
The closet was supposed to be a very quick makeover but then we decided to stop being lazy and do it right. 😜😂
The next 8 weeks are going to be busy!! Hope you guys follow along the progress. 😊 Check my stories later today to see the ‘before’ of the room.

We had left over materials from the wall in our bedroom. So I decided to give the front entry a little makeover.
So this project was basically a free one. I used the scrap wallpaper, cut off wood and some of the left over paint!
This little space is in no way done just yet, we still have to change the light fixture, add a mirror, paint the other walls, update the flooring and change the door... what a to do list 😅
But I’m gonna need some help! I’ll be asking in my stories which options you prefer! I love your feed back and suggestions! Heck maybe I’ll let you all decide on every renovation moving forward!

SHIPLAP! Thought I’d share some info on the type of shiplap we used for our feature wall in our master bedroom!
So we decided to go with a larger and wider 8 inch plank shiplap. We also went with shiplap that had a beveled edge in exchange of going with the standard gap edge shiplap. We love how having the beveled edge definitely added a softer texture to the room.
We got all our amazing shiplap and trim from @cosmaroma in Whitby. They were so wonderful and we can’t wait to go back to complete more projects on our home.

I didn’t know I was pregnant yet when these photos were taken. I would have been only one week along and had just finished designing my new studio before getting to have this little dance in it! 6 months and a growing baby bump later, I’m still loving having this space. My own home inside our home to dream the dream big dreams, paint and get inspired.
Of course I wonder what it’ll be like once the baby comes. There’s part of me that worries I’ll just lose all motivation. (As a #type3enneagram, is that even possible?)
Will this door be shut when, quite literally, the nursery room next door opens?
Or will I love having an hour or two alone during those first few months to get creative?
Right alongside the worries is this honest excitement and trust and in what’s next.
A couple weeks ago, we SAW baby kicking for the first time and Scott gets to feel now too. 🥰 During the first few months, you go through so many changes on your own, so being able to actually see and share that together now is just so, so special.
These days, I’m full on singing and talking to my belly every day, baby seems to enjoy when I listen to music and have long chats, and - proud moment - I no longer feel like I’m going to faint when I take my insulin needles 😅👏. (It only took months and 200+ shots at 3x per day, but it’s a needed reminder of how much we’re capable of. I’m type 2 diabetic but became insulin dependent with the pregnancy)
And in a final piece of fun news, we also found out the gender! Andddd we have a name picked out 🥰 I’m such a sentimental sap, so getting creative with all the ways we can honour our families brings me real happiness.
Truly appreciate all the love, kindness and crazy amazing advice you’ve shared with us! It’s weird being a first time mom during all of this. Your words mean the world 💛

Sharing my first-ever project!...which was really just me assembling a #paxwardrobe. But I also painted, changed out a light, added shelves, and styled the space.
When I built this 4 years ago, I was really proud of it, super in love with it (still am), and it's what started my goal to design and build beautiful spaces.
Plus, it gave me the opportunity to connect with a few amazing people - ie @luxuriousroxy - which started me on my path to help build spaces for others. More on that soon!

Pretty excited to start our 2022 with a little oasis for Eric & I. This year has been a whirlwind of Reno's , so we are looking forward to relaxing a little and enjoying our hard work.

Phew - who else is feeling tuckered out this week? 🥵
As much as I’d love to be spending the day buried in blankets in my bed, I’ve got a full day of meal-prepping and cooking planned!
I’ve also gotta go back down to my creepy storage locker (which you guys lovingly named, ‘the murder locker’ LOL 😂), and Tristan and I are trying to figure out what to do for our 3 year wedding anniversary in June!
Usually we go on a trip for our anniversary, and we were hoping to go down to the islands this year 🏝 but with restrictions back in full swing until at least May 25th, that looks like a pipe dream 💭
We were looking at nearby Airbnb’s, but haven’t found ‘the one’, yet!
Other ideas include:
- staying at the @deltagrandhotel and having dinner at @oakandcru 🏩
- booking in at @sparklinghill again 💎
- going camping, weather permitting ⛺️
- just plain staying home and having some beach days, weather permitting 🌊
Do you guys have any other ideas? What have you done over the past year to celebrate special occasions in a non-rule-breaking way? 🤪

The sink still needs to be framed in, there’s so many scuffs on the newly painted cupboards from moving things in and out…but this has been a labor of love. My vision for the space was a modern French/Euro farmhouse. Tim loves cooking and I love…well..watching and eating 🤓 So we knew this room was one of the most essential in the whole home. We took down the wall cupboards and opted for open shelving, and simply repurposed the old floor units with some new paint and minor reassembling. Aside from taking down a big central wall in the living room, we’ve done everything to do with this home renovation ourselves and we are pretty chuffed with how it’s coming along! We opted for real brick on the walls, Spanish porcelain tiles, and a herringbone wood-style porcelain floor. We created solid maple countertops with wood we found on Facebook marketplace.
