Do you believe in the power of manifestation? I did not until I failed. I felt like an absolute failure because I failed my GRE the first time AND failed it the second time. I had to take the GRE 3 times to be able to apply to some of the PT programs I wanted to or else my application would be thrown in the trash and would not even be considered. So what changed from attempt 1 & 2 to attempt 3? My mindset. 🧠 I went in knowing this was my last chance at succeeding and gave it my all. Instead of just focusing on practice questions, I also worked on building my confidence and showing myself that I can succeed and will succeed. I told myself everyday for a month that “I know what I’m doing. It’s time to show that I know how to succeed. I will pass the GRE.” And as cheesy as it may sound, I even wrote on my exam scratch paper that “I will pass AND I will become a PT”. ✨So moral of the story, if you want something: Say it. Write it. Dream it. Manifest it. I watched a lot of Chad’s Videos for Physics and tried to do as many practice problems as I could. I actually mostly used MCAT resources for physics (practice problems and lesson book). Be sure to memorize all the necessary formulas and know how/when to use them!🚴🏻🔭⏱ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝚁𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙲𝚘𝚖𝚙𝚛𝚎𝚑𝚎𝚗𝚜𝚒𝚘𝚗: Everyone has a different strategy on tackling this section, find what works for you! For me, I skimmed the readings first, then read the Q’s and went back to find the answers. I repeated this method for each of the readings and skipped the harder Q’s but I made sure to finish ALL the Q’s pertaining to the reading before moving onto the next passage! 📖🔍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝚀𝚞𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚝𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚁𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚘𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐: I spent the least amount of time prepping for QR since I personally do well on math sections. If math is not your strong suit, do lots of practice problems and find your strengths/weaknesses. This section can be time-consuming so knowing your strengths will allow you to triage the harder questions for last! 📝 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝙾𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚕𝚕: I pushed myself by making sure that I at least learned something everyday, and reviewed my Quizlet/Kaplan Flashcards daily to keep up w/ the material! The OAT is a hard exam and it can really challenge you BUT don’t let it intimidate you! Break it down and make a realistic schedule! Be real with yourself about your weaknesses and find ways to strengthen them. Just remember, whatever score you’re trying to achieve, YOU CAN DO IT! It’s Sunday ☺︎ and practice MCAT exam day! — I’m taking my third practice exam today and I’m a little nervous but happy to see what progress I’ve made! This summer I plan to take about seven or eight practice exams before my actual test in August so I am getting there! — Sorry that this post is a little boring but I wanted to take some time to talk about what I do during my practice exams to replicate test day conditions! 💛 On test day you are given an erase board booklet like the one pictured here and a dry erase marker. My booklet came with other resources for my Kaplan MCAT course but I know other prep companies also provide similar practice booklets. 💛 The testing center also provides noise cancelling earmuffs. I was able to find the same brand on amazon and use them during all my practice exams! At first I thought it was silly to wear the earmuffs but they are slightly painful (I can hear/feel the blood pumping in my ears) and it has taken awhile to get use to them so I’m happy I started wearing them well before test day! 💛 Finally, the AAMC (along with other organizations) is making it mandatory to wear masks on test day so I started wearing one during my practice exams to habituate myself to the mask as well! — Side note: drinks are not allowed during the exam but I’m being more lenient about that rule right now. Especially since I love my morning tea haha. Once I get closer to my test date I will be more strict about not drinking during my practice exams. — Hope this was informative and you have a great end to your weekend and feel refreshed for the new week! *LONG PERSONAL POST WARNING* I'm proud of many things, but I will definitely mention how proud I am to be an RN 💉This brief feed cannot explain how much sweat and tears were shed in my journey to becoming a nurse (and my family was my biggest support system👨‍👩‍👧‍👧) I was able to manage raising my babies while going through nursing school at 19🤯 Even with my major anxiety, I graduated Cum Laude. And then I failed the NCLEX..my test anxiety got the best of me😪. Then I studied differently and...failed a second time. My husband had lost his job and I felt so much pressure to support our family. It was really overwhelming 😭 At this point I got depressed and was giving up on myself. I had so much shame, anger, bitterness, and embarrassment. It wasnt till before Popo passed away, that he gave me the gift of #kaplantestprep After much prayer, stress relief, and new studying material, I finally passed the 3rd time 🙌🏽 Many many tears (and praising the Lord) when I saw the word PASSED. Then began the dreadful job interview process. Nobody wanting to hire me without 6 months experience🙅🏽‍♀️It really must have been in His timing, because months later I came across the Memorial Hermann Residency Program. I had known since before nursing school I wanted to work in the OR but was always told it would be years before I could work in that dept. With my luck, they had openings in the program; however it was the most competitive and only 2 positions were available😕 And here I am today working in the best dept, the OR! It is such an honor and privilege to be able to take care of patients in one of the most vulnerable times of their life. Even if they dont remember me from the anesthesia, I want to give them the safest and best care possible. I truly see my patients as my own family. Took my first full length practice GRE today - and I did horrible 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ . I have to increase my score quite a bit in the next 30 days before I sit for the GRE exam, and I had a mini freakout moment once I got my scores for the practice test. . Thoughts like, “I can’t do this” and “why am I even bothering with this” started to go through my head. And I am thankful for Zach for getting me over that little hump of doubt. . I started thinking about everything in my life that I gave up on because it didn’t go right once, and it’s more than I would like to admit. But we all have to start somewhere, and whether you’re a beginner or you’re a pro, success and results don’t come easy to most of us. . From my physical health, to my mental health and my education, I’ve always had to work really hard to achieve results, and I’m not stopping at the GRE exam. Im not giving up on my dream because of one silly test. This month is going to be difficult, lots of sacrifices are being made, but i am not letting anything get in the way of me achieving my dreams. “I’m doing this for me” . Throughout the summer when I was studying for the OAT, this was my wallpaper on both my phone & laptop. . I repeated these 5 words to myself anytime I doubted myself, anytime I felt insecure, anytime I felt inadequate, anytime I felt like giving up. . I had to constantly remind myself why I was sacrificing time spent w/ friends, family & my boyfriend in order to study bc, honestly, it was probably one of the toughest 3 months of my life. . This quote also reminded me that no one else’s opinion of me would dictate my success. I was not doing this for them. I was doing it for me, for my future, & for my future patients I will one day be able to help. . If there’s one piece of advice I can give, it’s to never give up❕ If this is truly what you want, you will be able to endure & be successful; nothing will get in your way! But remember, nothing worth having comes easy. . So, lift your head up. Readjust your ponytail. Pop your knuckles (if that’s something you do🤷🏼‍♀️). & remember why & for who you’re doing this in the first place! . I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up so I am taking GMAT, SAT and MCAT. Any tips?

As requested, today’s post is dedicated to the beloved OAT! . . Study schedule 📆 *Disclaimer: Everyone studies differently - I’m sharing what worked for me!* - I took the @kaplantestprep in-person course over the summer to help me learn strategies and keep me on a regular study schedule - I decided not to take the OAT during that summer because I felt mentally unprepared (don’t be afraid to admit you’re not ready!). I also didn’t want to take it during the school year, leaving me with 4 weeks in the winter to study again - A month was enough time for me to prepare and I studied 4 days a week and took a practice exam every Friday, giving me the weekend to go over my missed questions (leaving plenty of time to relax as well!). I spent ~6 hours a day going over one subject - Since reading comprehension & quantitive reasoning were subjects I didn’t feel the need to dedicate a whole day for, I did practice problems/passages whenever I had the time - I used the big Kaplan book as my primary study tool and Chad’s videos as a supplement - I took the ADA exam (free!), Kaplan & OAT Achiever practice exams - I used OAT Destroyer for practice problems . . Tips ✏️ - Although it can be stressful, spend some time relaxing! Whether it’s catching up on sleep/Netflix (my fav 🙋🏻‍♀️) or hanging out with friends, don’t feel like you need to lock yourself up! - If you want to overprepare like me, the OAT Achiever will give you practice exams that are difficult. Doesn’t sound inviting, but it will definitely show you areas and topics that you are weak in! Most people will say that you will get a much higher score on your actual exam that the Achiever practice exams (I got like a 290 on the first practice exam.... yikes) - Chad videos are a super helpful supplement for physics, chemistry and ochem - Do NOT intensively study the day before your exam! The only thing I did was go over physics/chemistry equations - Try to maintain a balanced diet and exercise regularly - release those endorphins!! - If you feel drained, take the day off! To keep me motivated, I read “You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero (def recommend!!) when I felt doubtful . . Y’all can do it!! Good luck ☺️

Okay guys, feelings break real quick! Spring quarter, senior year of college, I decided that it was time to retire my career as a barista at Starbucks and reached out to my local Kaplan Marketing Manager to ask if there was any opportunity at Kaplan. 3 months later, I started my Kaplan career as the new Marketing Manager, 1 week after graduating and I can't believe the incredible journey it has taken me on. Over the last 9 years, I've grown in marketing, sales, customer service and people management. All while in a culture that encourages growth, learning and self improvement - long story short, the people at Kaplan are AMAZING. Every single person puts so much care and thought to provide a quality experience for our students. From the conversations we have with students at events, to the late and long hours our teachers spend preparing and counseling their students for their tests. There's not a minute where the student experience isn't top of mind. I can't believe that I now have the opportunity to work with college students who are bright, ambitious, and super cool to kill it in brand awareness on campuses across the West Coast. It wasn’t easy and she struggled with getting back to the basic sciences, but worked tireless hours with faculty and her fellow classmates to get a true understanding of the science behind the clinical decisions she was familiar with. After failing and remediating a few courses, she worked closely with her academic coach to create a plan of attack for the boards including question practice and review of specific areas of weakness. After all was said-and-done, she not only passed Level 1, but scored almost national average!
