Fingering weight hats take so long, but are so worth it in the end. Anyone else feel this way? My second Suki Robe! I made the last one almost a year ago, out of a fun quilting cotton, but this rayon crepe version was always in the back of my mind. It’s sooooo nice. The fabric is Telio, from Fabric.com and I love the pattern. Kind of floral, kind of mystical and astrological. Totally perfect for a robe! I made the front bands full length, just to eliminate some of the fuss factor, and used a wide hem on the bottom. I mostly just serged the seams but I DID end up hand sewing the neck band just to make it look pretty. I omitted the pockets because putting anything in them with this lightweight material would make it hang weird. I LOVE this robe! So much fun! It makes me feel fancy to wear. . . Something about the long weekend that finally got me moving on this old project 💛 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Maybe you remember this dress from last year. I posted making it in stories, wore it to a wedding, then went on about my business. The pattern is Butterick #b6677, chosen for ease of wear (elastic waist) and simple construction (I don’t always have the bandwidth for a complicated project). I shortened the upper skirt tier by a couple of inches (I’m 5’5”), and went with the ruffled bodice view. It has pockets. They’re pretty small by sewist standards, so small, I’m not even sure they count. I would make them bigger next time, and should have known enough to alter them here (again with the bandwidth). I also kinda wish I had made it as separates. It would be an easy alteration and I would probably wear the pieces more than I wear the dress. I swear I’m not complaining, I like the dress, particularly in this fabric. It adds a little feminine softness that my wardrobe tends to lack. I usually trot it out for special occasions, but am trying to redefine it in my mind, and extend its range with sneakers. The fabric is Liberty Challis Floral Edit from @fabricdotcom. The print has the expected Liberty level of sophistication. The viscose challis isn’t quite as extraordinary as tana lawn, but is still top quality. It’s got great swish. The dress has a sash, but seemed like gilding the lily for casual wear. Y’all I finally sewed a white dress! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾. White has been that color that scares me just because of the high likelihood of stains. I almost convinced myself to wear gloves while sewing this dress😳🤦🏾‍♀️. I wore this dress to Santo wines during my recent vacation to Santorini so it was just the perfect dress for the occasion. After poring through countless patterns in my stash, I settled on this #m8211 pattern because I liked the puff sleeves, the off-shoulder bodice and the full skirt. The only adjustments I made were to lengthen the skirt to maxi length and add full lining. The dress fits perfectly and I will likely make the other versions soon. The fabric is crinkle poplin from @fabrics.com. It requires careful handling but the overall look it gives the outfit makes the extra work worthwhile. I got a lot of compliments on this dress so it will definitely be put to use a few times until I make more versions. This dress has finally convinced me to add more white outfits to my wardrobe so stay tuned👍🏾. "Proud House Nuvelle blood courses through my veins. Never shall it run dry!" -Constance von Nuvelle from Fire Emblem: Three Houses Constance is everyone’s favorite FE ojou-sama, with a great OHOHOHO laugh to boot. She seems really haughty at first but is actually quite endearing. I got emotional reading her supports about how she’s the sole survivor of House Nuvelle and her struggles to bring back glory to her name. If you haven’t played the FE3H DLC, I recommend it! I’m exhausted but happy to share with you what is likely my most challenging cosplay project to date! I don’t think my struggles were anywhere near as stressful as restoring glory to my house, but it sure felt like that sometimes. This involved many sewing and crafting techniques that I’d never/rarely used before and I had to redo SO many things. 3D printing also took several hours and I spent a long time figuring out how to get those pieces to stay on my body. This project nearly broke me but I’m glad I’m persistent like Constance and didn’t give up! I could see the light at the end of the tunnel on photoshoot day, but I had so many things fall apart that day 😱 my zipper broke and my harness beads kept going for a tumble. I learned my lessons - go overboard when making connector pieces and avoid cheap zippers! Considering how the past few years have gone, this Plague Doctor plush seems very appropriate. I made this version with embroidered features like mask rivets, glow-in-the dark eyes, and metallic silver coat buttons. I made New Look 6483 using a strawberry fabric from @fabricdotcom and I’ve gotten such nice comments on it when I’ve worn in out! I think strawberries invoke happy, summer feeing for most people 🍓🍓🍓. This pattern has been in print for many, many years. It’s a great basic that can be perfectly fitted and then easily hacked. I added a casing and drawstring to give it a ‘lil something extra ☺️.

If I’m being completely honest, I’m not having a super great time on social media anymore. It’s exhausting. Trying to keep up and make posts and create reels and gain the following back that I had with my old account. I know it’s silly, but I still get sad when I think of my old account and all the lovely people I had there and how unfair it is that no one will help me get back into it. Because now, I still want to connect with people, but Part of me wants to live my life and not document it. Part of me wants to live my life and show all the messy parts. And part of me wants to still be as aesthetic as heck and grow this following. • So, I guess here’s the thing: I’m tired. I know we’re all tired. I'm eking out the last of the sundresses and the last bits of warmth that the weather is throwing our way here... until spring comes in another 5 months or so. I sewed my way through a number of dresses at the @sewforlife_perth sewing retreat earlier this month and this was one I finished completely and wore home after the retreat which was a win! The pattern is the Sangria Sundress from @sewthispattern The only construction issue I had was the neckline is drafted to be half facing and half binding. I tried about three times but could not get a neat enough intersection between the two, so I unpicked the binding and drafted a back neck facing instead.
