When I first started researching the Bob Graham Round years ago, trying to pronounce the names of the 42 peaks and various waypoints on the map was even more intimidating than the terrain. I ultimately gave up and focused on training, instead. However, when we approached the “Lord’s Rake” its name would burn itself into my memory in an instant. The Lord’s Rake is a steep gully covered in scree leading to the Sca Fell plateau. When It first came into sight, I was sure that Ed (my nav for this leg) was joking when he said we’d go up that. You see, your support team continually lies to you telling you that the hardest part is behind you…just before they point up yet another straight wall to ascend another peak. I knew he wasn’t kidding, I was just praying he was. “This is the easy route”, he said “the other route requires proper climbing gear going up a face. The approach is actually the most dangerous part”. Great, I thought, that really makes things better. Bob Graham Round completed in a time of 21 hours and 55 minutes ✅⁠ ⁠ Having completed a winter round in February which did not qualify for a place in the club, (has to be under 24 hours) I couldn't wait to get out there and give it another bash. ⁠ ⁠ In all honesty, I did wonder if it is within my capabilities to do it within 24 hours. The weather played a major factor in my round last time and I was very quick to forget all of that, which left me wondering where and how I would make up any time. ⁠ ⁠ I decided on a 23.45 schedule which pretty much left nothing to play with. I just had to stick to the timings as much as possible. ⁠ ⁠ In terms of my pre-run preparation, I can't say I was my most prepared. With a combination of last - minute planning and no more school holidays left until summer, I could have been better prepared in many ways. I like to plan challenges within my holidays so I can bank sleep and have time to rest and prepare properly beforehand. ⁠ ⁠ Although everything wasn't ideal, I had put in the preparation: I'd spent countless weekends in the hills, I knew the route and I had the logistics covered.⁠ ⁠ We laughed as we looked at the forecast, 'thought this was meant to be a summer round?'. Despite a less than perfect night, the weather cleared a little for leg 3 and was much better for 4 and 5. ⁠ ⁠ Everything went to plan, and from leg 2 onwards we were slowly gaining on the schedule. Best of all, I was having an amazing time. My crew were a terrific bunch with a variety of skills and most of the time it honestly just felt like we were having a lovely day out in the hills. The last leg was much trickier mentally, however, we worked together to push through the lows and I knew I was home by then. ⁠ ⁠ Going up those steps at Moot Hall felt emotional, I'd see so many others do it and longed for my time. This was it and it felt brilliant! It's a tradition that the local pub 'The Round' brings you out a pint when you've completed the Bob Graham: best pint I've EVER had! 🍻⁠ ⁠ 📸 Sarah @sarahperry19917⁠

A huge congratulations to @jmwriley for completing the Bob Graham Round on the weekend in a fantastic time of 21 hours 14 minutes! For those of you who don’t know the Bob Graham Round is a fell running challenge starting and finishing at Keswick Moot Hall in the Lake District. It involves traversing 42 fells, over 66miles with 8200m of ascent all to be done under 24 hours! The BGR is more than just a challenge though as it takes many hours of learning the route, supporting other people on their attempts and gathering a team to support your own attempt! James had a fantastic crew led by his wife @sallyjminchella fresh from her 100miles debut the week before!

Deutschland hat hohe Ziele: Bis 2030 sollen rund 15 Millionen Elektroautos auf deutschen Straßen fahren. Das Problem dabei: Es wird nicht genug Lithium geben, um dieses Ziel zu erreichen. Das zeigen neueste Berechnungen der Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (#BGR), die dem Handelsblatt exklusiv vorliegen. Denn auch im Rest der Welt ist der wohl wichtigste Rohstoff für den Bau von Elektroautobatterien äußerst begehrt. „Selbst wenn alle aktuell geplanten und im Bau befindlichen Projekte im Zeitplan umgesetzt werden und wir von einem mittleren Nachfragewachstum ausgehen, werden wir nicht genug #Lithium haben, um die weltweite Nachfrage 2030 zu decken“, erklärt Studienautor Michael Schmidt von der BGR. 2020 wurden weltweit 82.000 Tonnen Lithium produziert. In den nächsten acht Jahren soll die Nachfrage je nach Szenario auf mindestens 316.000 beziehungsweise mehr als 550.000 Tonnen pro Jahr anwachsen. 90 Prozent des verarbeiteten Rohstoffs fließen dann in Lithium-Ionen-Batterien für #Elektroautos. Laut den BGR-Experten fehlen 2030 im schlechtesten Fall 300.000 Tonnen Lithium pro Jahr. Im besten Fall immer noch 90.000 Tonnen – so viel wie aktuell pro Jahr produziert wird. Kommt der von der Europäischen Kommission geplante Bann für Autos mit #Verbrennungsmotor bis 2035 hinzu, dürfte die Nachfrage in den nächsten Jahren sogar noch schneller steigen als bisher angenommen. Ever since I was little, I struggled with being who I was. I thought I was just an awkward black girl who loved acting.
