#mahsaamini #freeiran #freedom "I want a big change. I want the dark blanket of lies, murder, dictatorship, repression, and poverty to be taken away from my country. Iran is a very beautiful place; the culture, history, food, music, and nature is amazing. I want women and girls to be able to walk in the streets of Iran with no hijab and not be arrested. I want them to be able to do things like ride bicycles freely and sing and express themselves without being arrested or killed. Iranian people deserve freedom, happiness, and dignity! That is all I dream us to have. I am sure by bringing awareness, we can have an extraordinary change in Iran. I will shout and sing about the truth of what is happening in Iran so that the world will see the real face of the regime. If Iranian people know that the world is standing by them, they’ll stand up and fight for their rights." WORDS by @gola_official PHOTOGRAPHY by @clickwhenwordsfail at the Freedom Rally in Montreal in support of ongoing protests in Iran On September 16th Mahsa Amini was arrested by the morality police in Iran. She was beaten while in their custody, went into a coma, and later was pronounced dead. Following that, and in support of freedom of choice, women have been setting their veils on fire and cutting their hair in front of the camera. People are enraged, and protests continue spreading in many Iranian cities.

"Solidarity can be the best gift for Iranian men and women at this time in history." Iranian artist and women's rights activist Golazin Ardestani aka @gola_official grew up in Iran but now lives exiled in London and Los Angeles. We talked to her about the Iranian morality police, where she get's the strength to keep fighting and what each of us can do for change. "The journey of change is always a long one, no big change has been generated overnight. It starts with a vision that doesn’t exist and people thinking it is impossible; they discourage you, try to stop you along the way, and you might keep hitting big walls along the journey, but there is always a way to create a new path. You should stick to your vision, don’t give in, and use your rage in a positive way. It is a matter of time, but it will be done!" We have to speak out against violence against women much louder. Especially when it comes to situations in which women have to fear for their lives over the simplest things and actions. Like wearing their hair uncovered. Or sing in public when men are around. The right and freedom of having sovereignty over their own bodies and decisions. Things that are so normal for us, that we do not waste much thought on and the kind of freedom that we take for granted. But this freedom unfortunately doesn´t exist for everyone. This is also a call to all of us! Please speak up! photography by @laetitiadumez Full interview on #cheadsmagazine #mahsaamini #opiran #freeiran

"To me, this island is a she. She is a guide to freedom and simplicity, to generosity, joy, and abundance. A beckoning to be a better human to myself and, therefore, to the world. She is a roaring sea that commands attention, yet is often overlooked by tourists, dismissed as mere decoration. She is a potent force, one that when aligned with, bestows unbelievable gifts. Dedicate yourself to her, and be rewarded. She embodies the power, the divinity, the life as it should be, untouched by unnecessary human interventions that are often self-harming. I love her.” Words and Photos by @Hila_krugman_kadi

Dutch indie rock quartet @hisisloupe are setting the summer right. The group make a brand of indie rock that is grounded yet groovy; breezy but interesting. Today they celebrate the birth of their first album, Do You Ever Wonder What Comes Next? Running about 45 minutes, the record needles its way through several flavors of indie, with sweeping guitars, resolute vocals, and production glitz, rounded out by steady, organic drums. Sonically, a case can be made for describing them as a poppier Warpaint, or dreamier Metric, but attempts to simplify would be in vain, as the group have a sensibility to them that is unique – especially for hailing from a dance hub like Amsterdam. Do You Ever Wonder What Comes Next? tackles the themes of youth and young adulthood, growing up in the city, and change. “For me it was all a kind of transition,” says frontwoman Julia Korthouwer, “with on the one hand the new life and all the cool things that come with it. And on the other hand, the uncertainty of being alone in the big city and the adult world.” From the large alt ethos of “Catch My Swing” to the smoothness of “I Keep Changing,” it’s a debut that covers a lot of ground and likely sounds even better where it belongs, on stage. No strangers to the road, the band has plenty of plans for that across Western Europe and the U.K. this summer including a few big festivals and a sold out tour with Brighton’s Lovejoy. In the wake of their newest release, we delve into a unique musical landscape forged by the collaboration between LA-based producer @timenso and the New Zealand band, @beaconbloom, which consists of Ryan Ferris, James Allen, and Joss Doge. Their union was born from a shared vision, catalyzed when Enso was seeking a vocal talent for his music production. The result is the transformative Fallen Flower EP, released on @purifiedrecords. The title track, ‘Fallen Flower,’ invites listeners into a realm of emotional melodies, electronic music, and evocative vocals. As Tim Enso puts it, “The result was a transformative collaboration that I’m immensely proud of, blending our talents to create an emotive and captivating musical experience.” Blending Enso’s soft instrumentals and synths with Beacon Bloom’s gentle vocals, the single is a journey for the senses that carries you away, a perfect track for solitary drives into freedom, and for the creation of fond memories. Emerging once more into the limelight, @kuoko_music, a Hamburg-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, invites us to embark on a blissful sonic journey with the release of ‘Loser‘, her latest single from an eagerly awaited album, to be brought into existence later this year under the @kabulfirerecords. Much like the mirthful memory of a long summer’s day, ‘Loser’ is a track that feels like a friend. It’s an open invitation to sing along, creating an atmosphere one wishes would never end. Fortunately, there’s a repeat button. This track is a sunlit traverse through a landscape shaped by French House music, leading to a resplendent daydream of electronic pop. Despite its upbeat vibe, the track carries an empowering message. KUOKO elaborates, “The lyrics of this song declare, ‘I would rather be a loser than the one who never dares, I would rather mess it up a hundred times, times, times / I would rather face my fears’. It is a call to the listener to recognize the courage inherent in artistic creation, underlining that success and failure are two inseparable companions accompanying us on the road to achievement”.
