The Inaugural Congress for African Architecture Students was great! This pioneering event brought together architecture students from all corners of Africa to engage in enriching dialogues, share knowledge, and collaborate on various projects. The congress served as a platform for students to showcase their design projects, present their research findings, and exchange innovative ideas. It featured distinguished keynote speakers and captivating exhibitions, offering valuable opportunities for networking and professional growth. The primary goal of this year's congress was to establish the Africa Union of Architects Students Network Committee on the 2nd of October, coinciding with World Architecture Day. This event took place from September 30th to October 2nd at the International University of East Africa and was organized by the Architecture Students Association, the Uganda Society of Architects, and the Africa Union of Architects. The congress witnessed the presentation of the William Henry Ssentougo Memorial Architecture Prize. This prestigious award was designed to honour the legacy of the AUA Founding President and acknowledge the lifelong contributions of senior architects who had devoted themselves to advancing the field of architecture in a manner that fostered positive social change throughout Africa. The scholarship, which was based on merit, served as a tribute to the late Architect Ssentougo. Henry Kirungi (@henry_kirungi), current President of Architecture students at IUEA was not only appointed as the First East Regional Vice President but also assumed the role of Chairman for the entire Africa Union of Architects Students Committee. Tony Diakite (@tonydiakite), current Vice President was entrusted with the position of Secretary within the committee.

Today, @iuea_uganda proudly hosted the "Inaugural African Congress for Architecture Students". Our students had the incredible opportunity to tap into the wisdom of architectural experts from across the continent, as they embarked on a journey to design sustainable living environments for future generations. But it didn't stop there! This unique experience also empowered them to voice their thoughts on modern architecture and actively participate in the dynamic discourse of African architecture. The insights gained today are sure to supercharge their problem-solving skills in the realm of modern architecture, and we couldn't be prouder of their growth! This event goes on for the next two days. For further information, please reach out to +256 705 236 928. @asa_iuea @acas.africa
