Humpback whales, with their enormous flippers and tails, create a mesmerizing spectacle when they slap the water’s surface. This behavior, called « pec-slapping » or « tail-slapping, » is a distinctive aspect of their communication and social interactions. The resounding echoes of these powerful slaps can transmit messages to other whales across considerable distances. It’s believed that these actions also serve as a means of play, self-expression, or even a way to loosen dead skin and parasites from their bodies. Regardless of the exact reason, witnessing humpback whales slapping the water is a breathtaking display of their grace and vitality in their aquatic habitat. . #gabon #migration #nature #gabonisbeautiful #amazing #exotic #africa #wonderful #beautiful #photooftheday #shotoftheday #bestoftheday #picoftheday #instagood #mavic3pro #humpback #dji #humpbackwhale #wild #whalewatching #photography #aerialphotography #whaleseason #baleine #instaphoto #aerial #travel #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #lonelyplanet

Humpback whales are known to approach shorelines for various reasons, such as feeding, mating, and migrating. It's not uncommon to see them closer to the coast during their migrations. Having said that this is only the second time I’ve seen one come this close to the shoreline inside of the bay at les trois rivières, it was just magic to watch. Please observing humpback whales from a safe distance is important to avoid disturbing their natural behaviors and ensuring their well-being. If you're interested in watching them, consider joining guided tours with responsible operators who prioritize the welfare of these magnificent creatures. I’ve filmed a few different ones now where they have been injured clearly by the propellers of a boat and not just whales, dolphins to, so be careful while out on your boat. . Gabon is blessed with extensive mangrove ecosystems along its coastline, contributing significantly to its biodiversity and ecological balance. These unique coastal forests serve as essential habitats for a wide range of marine and terrestrial species, providing nesting sites for birds, nurseries for fish, and protection against erosion and storm surges. Mangroves in Gabon play a vital role in carbon sequestration, helping mitigate the effects of climate change. Moreover, they offer livelihood opportunities for local communities through fishing and ecotourism, promoting sustainable development. Preserving these mangrove forests is crucial for both Gabon's natural heritage and global environmental well-being. . #gabon #mangroves #river #landscape #nature #gabonisbeautiful #amazing #exotic #africa #wonderful #beautiful #photooftheday #shotoftheday #bestoftheday #picoftheday #instagood #drone biodiversity #wild #portrait #photography #aerialphotography #droneoftheday #djiglobal #instaphoto #aerial #travel #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #lonelyplanet

Gorillas. . Although they are sometimes shown in movies as being mean or scary, gorillas are very gentle animals. Watching the mother with her baby is very much like watching a humans. Gorillas share 98.3% DNA with humans 😯crazy or what. . They live in groups called troops that contain a silverback, many females, and offspring. The troop travels around the forest together looking for food during the day. At night, each gorilla makes a nest to sleep in on the ground or up in a tree. A baby gorilla sleeps in its mother's nest until it is 4 to 6 years old. They may continue to ride on their mothers' backs, chests or legs until they are 3-4 years old. . Unfortunately Gorillas are endangered for a number of reasons. The forests they live in are being cut down by people, leaving the gorillas less space to find food and shelter. The loss of forests also makes it easier for hunters to find the gorillas. . #gabon #loango #nationalpark #gabonisbeautiful #amazing #exotic #africa #wonderful #beautiful #photooftheday #shotoftheday #bestoftheday #picoftheday #instagood #gorilla #primates #a73 #a7iii #wild #protection #photography #gorillasofinstagram #animal #african #instaphoto #ape #protection #wildlife #wildlifephotography #lonelyplanet

The African spoonbill begins breeding in the winter, which lasts until spring. During the breeding season, adult male African Spoonbills develop more plumage and brighter coloration. The spoonbill’s nest, generally located in trees above water, is built from sticks and reeds and lined with leaves. Three to five eggs are laid by the female birds, usually during the months of April or May. The eggs are incubated by both parents for up to 29 days, and upon hatching the young birds are cared for by both parents for around 20 to 30 days. The birds are ready to leave the nest soon afterward, and begin flying after another four weeks. . #gabon #africanspoonbill #nature #gabonisbeautiful #amazing #exotic #africa #wonderful #beautiful #photooftheday #shotoftheday #bestoftheday #picoftheday #instagood #bird #birdsofinstagram #bird_lovers #birdphotography #wild #portrait #photography #aerialphotography #birds #djiglobal #instaphoto #portgentil #travel #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #lonelyplanet
