Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged university graduates to venture into entrepreneurship since the government cannot guarantee enough jobs for all. Speaking during the 40th Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and the 9th Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) joint graduation of 4,299 students in Kiambu County on Friday, Gachagua asked the graduates to be creative just as the government continues to roll out job creation programmes. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi now says the country is unlikely to resolve the prevailing tough economic times within the short period the Kenya Kwanza government had projected when taking over power. Speaking on Friday during the opening of an entrepreneurship conference held at ACK St. Marks church in Westlands, Mudavadi urged Kenyans to fasten their belts in preparation to handle tough times ahead since the ruling administration may take about two and half years to revive the economy. A journalist was on Thursday forced to leave an event, rush home and change clothes after she drew the ire of President Ruto's mother Sarah Cheruiyot over her mode of dressing. Zipporah Achieng, 22, a camerawoman with one of the local stations, became the unwitting star of the event where Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii was handing out title deeds to farmers in the area. Achieng was shocked when she saw the First Mother stand up, walk up to her and wrap a 'Maasai shuka' around her waist in the full glare of everyone present. "Mama Sarah came to the function, sat down, didn't even stand up during the national anthem, did not even stand during prayers but she stood up and came straight to me. I couldn't believe it but my parents taught me to respect the elderly," Achieng told Citizen Digital. "After she warmly hugged me and gave me the Masaai shuka, I felt I should go home and change into something else." After the incident, Mama Sarah took to the podium and explained what had happened and why she did it. "When I got here, I saw my daughter and her short dress, I told myself, if her camera falls and she bends over to pick it up, there will be nothing covering her. Digital content creator Pritty Vishy has opened up about being married thrice, getting divorced and pursuing her dreams as a content creator. The content creator and ex-girlfriend to singer Steve Simple boy ex-girlfriend said that her first marriage was not planned. “I was from seeing my then-boyfriend, I lost track of time and I got home a bit late, my mother wanted to punish me for being out late and so I ran away and moved in with the guy. And that is how dropped out of school and moved in with him not knowing that he was a thug. After a few months, I went back home and I was taken to a boarding school,” she said in an interview on the Lynn Ngugi show. She was married again for the second time to avoid getting beaten by her mother once again. “I met a random boy who gave me shelter until my mother calmed down and that’s how I got married again. I was in Form One then, but I was about 17 years old because I was always in and out of school. I later found out that he was married and that’s when I went back home,” she said. In Form Two, she also moved in with a married man again. She claims not knowing that the man had a family. “My mother really wanted me to finish secondary school and make me the first in the family to have done that,” says the content creator. She says as a young girl her desire to have a good life while running away from the troubles at home influenced her terrible decisions. According to the content creator, in 2019 Steve asked her to be his girlfriend and they propelled her into the young and famous circle. It was a blessing and a curse, although she recalls being bullied and body shamed growing up, Vishy says, the cyberbullying was so intense she had to be hospitalized because of stress-induced ulcers. ”I used to cry every day, the negative comments were more than the positive, can you imagine consuming that every day? I was still in high school when I started trending on social media platforms. “They said mean things without knowing how they hurt us. They said our kid would look like an alien, and some wished us death even today they still bully me based on my appearance,” she said.

President Ruto's mother Sarah criticises journalist over her short dress, covers her in a 'shuka'

President William Ruto on Thursday joined world leaders, global icons, celebrities and climate activists at the Power our Planet Concert in Paris, France to advocate for action on climate change. The concert, which took place in tandem with the Paris Summit, was organised by Global Citizen as a rallying cry to global leaders attending the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact to take action to tackle the global climate and debt crises. Suavely addressing thousands of attendees at the Champs de Mars Park which borders France's most emblematic monument - the Eiffel Tower- President Ruto got a rousing welcome from the crowd and he started his speech on a high. "Guys, I bring you greetings from Kenya, the land of the greatest marathoners," he started as the crowd jubilated. "From the youngest continent in the globe. It is wonderful to see so many people from around the world in one of the most historic cities under the magnificent Eiffel Tower." Ever the showman, Dr Ruto knew the right notes to hit to warm up the global crowd. "The joy and the happiness exuded by all of us here I wish it could be shared around the world. The people of Kenya, Africa and many parts of the world live in the reality of the new normal," he said. After the niceties, the head of state got down to business stressing the importance of establishing an impartial financial system that will enable the global community to combat climate change. "The climate crisis is getting worse every year with millions losing their lives to drought, flash floods, heatwaves, cyclones and wildfires. Luckily, the solutions to make a difference are in our hands and when I see you, I see the future and the solution to the challenges that exist in our globe," he said to the buoyant crowd. "At this global event, we call for a global financial system that supports climate-positive and green industrial growth powered by renewable resources. It should also provide affordable finance that can help all of us attain our goal of low carbon and a resilient world in line with the Paris Agreement of net zero by 2050." A police officer based in Kipipiri, Nyandarua County was on Thursday found brutally murdered in an incident authorities believe stemmed from a love triangle. Corporal Joseph Kahungu, 59, was found lying in a pool of blood by officers from Turasha Police Station after members of the public tipped them off after discovering his mutilated body. Kahungu's body had multiple deep cuts on the face and neck while his wrist had been severed from his right hand. His right foot had also been cleaved from his leg. Preliminary investigations by police have revealed that the victim was last seen leaving Turasha Police Station to buy some cigarettes from a nearby shop. It is suspected that he encountered his would-be murderer John Thiong'o Kinyanjui, who has since gone into hiding, during the period. Police have arrested the suspect's ex-wife, 40-year-old Tabitha Wanjira Thiong'o, to assist in investigations. "The motive of murder is suspected to be love triangle. The officer was due for retirement on October 24, 2023. The scene was visited by SCPC Kipipiri, DCI Kipipiri, OCS Turasha and processed," a police report seen by Citizen Digital reads. The deceased's body has since been moved to JM Kariuki Hospital morgue in Ol Kalou for storage as investigations into the gory incident continue.
