I want to take this moment to thank the SADC community for acceding to our humble request to entrust us with the responsibility to lead the SADC Secretariat for the first time in the history of SADC. We take this enormous responsibility very seriously and we are truly humbled. I thank my Cabinet and officials for the support and hard work they put into this campaign. Special thanks go to Batswana whose resources carried this campaign. We appreciate the sacrifices made and the support they gave us. One of the commitments I made is to push for Batswana to take strategic roles in all the international organisations we belong to. This comes with a lot of sacrifices and hard work but with their support, we will achieve this goal. During the campaigns, we assured our peers that Elias Mpedi Magosi is the embodiment of everything that is Botswana: hard work, frugality, humility, honesty, respect, adherence to the rule of law among many and I implore him to go out there and show SADC what Batswana are capable of. To Rre Magosi, you are now a servant of SADC. Go and serve all member states equally and diligently. Congratulations and good luck on your new journey. #AdvancingTogether #PushaBW #GoMasisi 🇧🇼

Congratulations to my dear brother, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on the assumption of the chairship of the SADC Summit. You can count on Botswana and of course all the SADC countries for support in the execution of your mandate. Special thanks to President, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi for your kind leadership over the last 12 months. #AdvancingTogether #GoMasisi 🇧🇼

My best wishes for the soul of one of the best Presidents of our time, Sir QKJ Masire who would have turned a grand 96 years today had God granted him a few more precious years with us. Happy Anniversary to Rre Ra Gaone as we fondly referred to him in our customary Setswana way of calling a parent in reference to they being a father to their first child. I ask all Batswana to remember this stalwart who engineered our graduation into a modern state and so ably managed both the government machinery and Party cohesion through Therisanyo! “A ha rea bua?” As he so often said after a lengthy discussion. A Pula e ne!

I am pleased that in the diamond narrative being developed, young people are finally becoming part of the story! Today during the Lucara Diamond presentation of the 1.174 carat diamond, I made an announcement that HB Antwerp has offered to house in Belgium, 10 of the most talented and motivated students from BIUST to learn Diamond processing and leadership. The opportunity is for 3 to 6 months and I assure you that the selection process will be transparent. #AdvancingTogether #PushaBW #ResetBW #ImplementingOurChangeMandate #GoMasisi 🇧🇼

Today I joined other SADC leaders to bid farewell to the Founding Father of Zambia; a great friend of our Founding President, the late Sir Seretse Khama and that of Botswana. May your soul Rest in eternal peace, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda. 🕊 #GoMasisi 🇧🇼
