YAY! Our date with Mt.Fuji was a big score!
We were worried at first as the day started very cloudy. Even our guide was keeping it real and said that we might not be able to have a clear view of her. But luck was on our side, Mt. Fuji showed up in all her glory!
We started our journey from Shinjuku “Love” structure. After about 90 mins we reached our first spot, Arakurayama Sengen Park and Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine. The weather was just reaching it’s 30°C max, but thankfully it was nicely windy. To reach to the top, you need to climb up 400 steps!
At first I was sceptical due to my recovering condition, but I decided to challenge myself and make it a mission as I’m already so close to the sight that I’ve seen thousands of times online. Alhamdulillah, I reached to the top in less than 10 mins and what a view it was! I definitely can spend a whole day up there.
Then we moved on to another amazing location, Oishi Park. I'll just let the photos do the talking. It's pretty hard to choose a fav shot, so i'll do another photo-dump post much later. The park has a souvenir shop, cafe and resting areas to enjoy the surrounding views. But we spend most of it taking photos of course.
The last stop of the tour was at Gotemba Premium Outlets. With about 210 retailers ranging from Adidas, Fendi, Pokemon Center, Prada, Gucci and a lot more, you'll need to do some speed-shopping to be back at the coach by 4pm. I have no selfies here, as I was just busy going from one section to another. Surprisingly, I didn't do much damage. That photo with the snowy top is from a photo app available from there. Simply scan a QR code, pose and download it with a fee of about $3.
And then 90 mins later, we were back in Tokyo and we made our way the hectic point of Shinjuku for dinner and more shopping. We finally reached home at about 9pm, all tired but so happy that our mission was a success.
I bought the tour via @klooktravel and we're also lucky that there were less than 20 people in the group too. If you're thinking of doing it, I wish you the best of luck as Mt. Fuji is said to be visible 30% of the year only.
