#TBT Did you know that the Wellness Breakfast started just 18 months ago? (April 2018 to be exact!) It may still be in its infancy, but it has earned quite an established reputation of being one of the must-attend events in everyone’s calendar. A bit of history for you: The Wellness Breakfast started as a passion project from the trifecta, Nadia (Bodytree & Nectar Co- founder), Mira (Nectar Co-Founder and Chef) and Suzan (Holistic & Functional Nutritionist) who wanted to curate a bespoke programme that focused on holistic wellbeing with an education component, and a nourishing cuisine showcasing healthy food relevant to the topic. It was a huge hit, the response was overwhelming and the attendees couldn’t wait for the next event. Thus the Wellness Breakfast was born! Aimed at fostering a passionate discussion about how our lifestyle, food and environment affect our bodies, Nadia, Suzan and Mira set the course of building a community of likeminded people who desired access to quality education in holistic wellbeing. Now hosted at Nectar juice bar in Bodytree Studio, each breakfast focuses on a different theme, featuring a specialist guest speaker relevant to that topic, alongside Suzan’s empowering lecture to support and breakdown the science, offer take home messages and lifestyle adjustments. Don’t be fooled by the word ‘beginner’ and think that Beginner Yoga is an easy class! This is still a work out and a work in. Although you won’t be left breathless like a cardio class, these 75 minute sessions still build up an internal heat whilst you learn the foundations of yoga. We do stress the importance of learning, or even reeducating yourself in the foundations to ensure correct breathing techniques, posture and movement. The Muscle of the Soul, aka the Psoas muscle is the largest muscle in the group called the Hip Flexors, and it’s these bad boys that keep your thighs and your hips together. Known as the deepest muscle in the human body; it is crucial for proper thigh movement as it affects our structural balance, muscular integrity, flexibility, strength, range of motion, joint mobility and organ functioning. It continually massages organs, blood vessels and nerves of the trunk promoting the fluid required throughout the body to help us feel grounded and centred. This Friday, join Jacquelene Sadek as she fatigues the Psoas muscle to reduce trauma or residue of trauma, fulling healing and recuperating the muscle before the Yin practice.
