"Did you say walk?" The munchkins Chanchal, Bijli and Laxmi are avid walkers who absolutely must have their daily stroll or else...! Often taken to the lush green landscape surrounding the Elephant Conservation and Care Centre, they explore under the bright blue sky and forage to their heart's content. After their languid excursions, the three saunter back to their enclosure for a lovely meal and a good night's sleep. . . . . . . . . . . . #wildlifesosindia #indianwildlife #asianelephants #munchkins #elephantsofindia #elephantsofinstagram #instaelephant #elephantconservationandcarecentre #eccc #elephantrehabilitation #rehabilitatingelephants

Twenty-year-old Durga is an immensely graceful feline. She's one of the many cats we've rescued from man-leopard conflict in the state of Maharashtra. In 2006, she was accidentally trapped in a cage along with a few other leopards when she was suspected to enter into conflict with local villagers, from where she was rescued by Wildlife SOS. Her bold nature led to her being christened 'Durga', a warrior goddess in Hindu mythology. Today Durga currently housed at the Wildlife SOS Leopard Rescue Centre in Junnar, Maharashtra where she loves lazing around on the wooden platform in her enclosure. . . . . . . . . . #mlrc #manikdoh #junnar #maharashtra #leopardsofinstagram #leopardsofindia #leopardsofmaharashtra #indianwildlife #indianleopard #instaleopard #wildlifesosindia #savingindiasleopards #asianleopard #pantherapardus #instaanimal #leopardrescue #leopardrescuecentre #leopardconservation #conservationawareness

The claws of sloth bears are immensely useful tools for the animal. From food to self defence - the curved claws are a highly efficient foraging tool and a formidable opponent in a fight against predators. Sloth bears feed predominantly on termites and ants and their long, curved claws are used for penetrating nest mounds, which can be rock-hard. When facing off against predators like tigers in the forests or defending their young, the same claws form great weapons for self defence. . . . . . . . . . #wildlifesosindia #savingindiasbears #slothbears #bearsofindia #indianwildlife #bearsofinstagram #slothbearconservation #slothbearawareness

Along with conflict, open wells are some of the biggest threats to India's leopards. Wildlife SOS has rescued countless leopards from a gruesome fate after being trapped in wells - some survived, some passed - but every single one of them underwent a terrible ordeal due to the terrifying situation. We're asking authorities to fence off wells in their jurisdiction and prevent them from taking the lives of countless animals. Help us spread the word. We have just received some sobering news from the Elephant Conservation and Care Centre. Priyanka is suffering from a severe bout of colic. Our veterinarians and elephant care staff have worked through the night to stabilise her condition. She's currently battling severe stomach ache and bloating. In the last 24 hours, she has not consumed any solid food except a handful of cucumbers. To everyone's relief however, she is drinking water. She's been administered an enema and is undergoing a broad spectrum of antibiotics and pain management. She was also taken on a walk in the morning to help relieve her pain. Priyanka is an incredibly brave elephant, having fought and pulled through a lifetime of abuse, and we will do our utmost to ensure she emerges from this dark time too. We urge you to keep her in your prayers. . . . . . . . . . #eccc #elephantconservationandcarecentre #asianelephants #elephantconservation #elephantsofinstagram #instaelephant #instaanimal

When we say best friends, we mean best friends indeed! We haven't seen an example like Ganesh & Vitthal's in all our work with leopards. And by an example like this, we mean two fully grown, adult male leopards sharing such a deep bond. Grooming is a very important aspect of the bond between two leopards. Perhaps their shared history in man-animal conflict has brought them closer. The two have very rarely been apart at the Wildlife SOS leopard rescue centre and this photo perfectly encapsulates their mutual affection for each other. . . . . . . . . . . . . #instaleopard #asianleopards #indianwildlife #leopardrescue #mananimalconflict #leopardmanconflict #conservationefforts #instagoood #leopardrescuecentre #mlrc #manikdoh #instaanimal #leopardsofinstagram #animalsofinstagram #animalsofindia #igpost
