If you want to experience life under the water, Havets Hus is the perfect place. @havetshus is a salt-water aquarium that displays hundreds of different species from Gullmarsfjorden and Västerhavet. Get close up to hundreds of fascinating marine species from the lesser-spotted dogfish to the long spined sea-scorpion, walk in the tunnel aquarium surrounded by water among thornback ray, cod and conger eels and feel the starfish and hermit crabs in tactile aquariums. An adventure for the whole family! #westsweden #bohuslän
There’s a whole lot to discover in Gothenburg. And there’s even more to explore outside the city. Just 30 minutes with the train from Gothenburg lies Sweden’s fika capital – Alingsås! Of course there are more to see and do here than fika and one of those things is to visit Lights in Alingsås @lightsinalingsas during October. Leading lighting designers from all over the world light up public spaces across the whole of the town centre with colourful light installations. From September 27 until November 3 you can visit Lights in Alingsås and walk the lightning trail, go on a guided tour, or take a small train that puffs along the trail to see all the installations. Read more and welcome to @kafestadenalingsas and @lightsinalingsas 👋🏼 #westsweden #nexttogothenburg 📸 Patrik Gunnar Helin
Going on a hike? The 43,7 km Pilgrim Path between Varnhem and Falköping is beautiful and follows classic pilgrim routes that have been in existence for centuries. Discover a rolling cultural landscape, two ruined mediaeval monasteries, and the rich and varied birdlife around Lake Hornborga - one of the most important bird lakes in Europe. There are lots of places to eat along the Pilgrim Path, @lofwings and @cesarstugan , are both worth a visit. You can also eat well at @kurortenmosseberg and enjoy a massage or spa experience, as well as stay the night. Cosy B&B’s Nästegården and Konstnärsvillan, by Löfwings, are two other suggestions for accommodation along the trail. Happy hiking! #westsweden
The adorable Weather Islands (Väderöarna) are a cluster of around 365 islands in the far reaches of the Fjällbacka archipelago, off the Bohuslän coast. An attractive combination of lush greenery and barren landscapes, they are also known for being the sunniest, windiest and most westerly uninhabited islands in Sweden, and are well suited for walking. The Weather Islands became a marine nature reserve in 2001. Väderöarna are steeped in memories and traces from centuries of shipping. Seafarers have been forced here by strong winds since the 13th century and Väderöarna were long considered impossible to inhabit due to the harsh climate. There are many rock carvings on the main island: house marks, compass roses, dates and escutcheons. The guesthouse, Väderöarnas Värdshus, opened in 2005 after a thorough renovation, it now offers rooms, a restaurant and pier café all year round. The menu is seasonal and varies with the conditions of the sea, the seasons and the weather. It is open every day all year round but strong winds and chilly temperature during autumn and winter makes it extra special to enjoy the hot tub and sauna by the sea. You can easily reach the island by boat from Fjällbacka and Hamburgsund, hopefully you spot seals on your way out when you pass one of Bohuslän's largest seal colonies. Could this be a great place to enjoy quality time with your dear and near ones? ❤️

Hurray! Yesterday was the lobster premiere in Bohuslän. Every year there is a hype about the first sold kilo of lobster at the fish auction. 52 000 sek was the kilo price this morning but the record is 102 000 sek for the first kilo of lobster in 2012. Do you want to head out with a fisherman on a lobster safari? There are plenty of tours along the coast. Happy fishing! 🦞
This morning 7am sharp was the start of the thrilling lobster premier. The water was full of boats and buoys. Time to catch lobsters – finally! For the locals in Bohuslän, the start of the lobster fishing period is a celebration of the same magnitude as the annual Elk Hunt or Christmas. There may be fewer gunshots and lit candles, but it is just as longed for, just as surrounded by myths and legends, and just as full of glorious taste experiences. The first kilo of lobster is for sale tomorrow morning at the fish auction. The price record was 102 000 sek in 2012, no wonder the lobster is called the black gold of the sea!
Beautiful Käringön! This car-free island is a great little gem to visit in September – during the weekends all the stores and restaurants are open and you can discover the narrow streets with white wooden houses, bustling piers and smooth rocks at your own pace! Even the boat ride to the island is a wonderful experience 💙 #westsweden #bohuslän @sodrabohuslan
