I practice yoga since 2006 in different yoga studios in Vienna. In 2010 I got my first diagnosis for pre-disc prolapse (vor-Bandscheibenvorfall). The Professor meant - incorrect yoga practice and alignments are the cause! I didn’t want to quit so I did my own Yoga Teacher Training Course to learn alignments and contraindications properly and become a good yoga teacher With a time I got the licence from Yoga Alliance to educate future yoga teachers and show them the importance of yoga anatomy and danger of yoga injuries to protect other students from the same experience I have! So since then my pain never left and I couldn’t repair, what was damaged in the beginning... today I wasn’t able to get up off my bed. Now I got a double disc prolapse in my neck. MY CONCLUSION AND ADVISE: Yoga is not harmful, when performed correctly! It CAN HEAL AND HELP!!! It can DO MIRACLES to your body! But.... Yoga Teacher Training is a very short course! Many yoga teachers simply lack the knowledge! So when you choose a yoga teacher- make sure he has a great experience and skills in anatomy and sequencing. I tell to my students - when they teach, they have to look under the skin. They have to see muscles and joints, when they teach! Understand the dynamic! And not only go for fancy flows and postures! Otherwise yoga can harm and, if you see statistics, yoga injuries increase! The reason is poor knowledge of many teachers. Take care of yourself!

In the Placebo effect, people experience positive effects just as a result of their positive expectations. So positive thoughts cause better results. In the Nocebo effect, people experience negative effects even if the treatment is not real. Negative thoughts cause worse results. The study was made: cancer patients got chemo therapy, being aware of a side effect - hair loss. The procedure of chemo therapy was made without any radiation. So basically no treatment took place. The results have shown: Patients lost their hair just because they have expected that. Thought alone is enough to influence your body. Choose your thoughts right, even if you can’t see or touch them, they still do change you in the molecular level. Yoga and meditation help you to build up and maintain a positive mindset.
