“Since we started working in pairs, we are able to reach more women than before,’ says Najibullah & his sister Maryam, social workers. With partners, and funding from @AuswaertigesAmt, #UNICEF addresses the needs of women and girls affected by #COVID19 in #Herat and #Badghis, western Afghanistan. Girls and women receive psychosocial support, and referrals of gender based violence survivors. UNICEF is deploying social workers in pairs (male & female). Meet Samia Samia, is an11-year old girl from #Laghman province, eastern Afghanistan. She was born in #Pakistan and when she returned to her home country #Afghanistan, she enrolled in a community-based education (CBE). “I am a Grade 4 #student at Shaherak Muhajereen, and I am first in my class,” says Samia with pride. Samia and her parents are very happy with the CBE classes, including the teaching materials and supplies that #UNICEF provided. ‘When I grow up, I want to become a teacher to teach #girls in my area.’ Thanks to @USAIDAfghan and individual donors to UNICEF #RegularResources, girls like Samia are able to continue their #education.
