I've been working on updating new Northern Lights inspired glazes. I still like the *old* look, but I enoticed lots of people making similarity glazed work on IG lately, so it's maybe time for something new. (Original glaze pictured in second photo) This one is really really hard to capture in a picture, but I think is really interesting irl. If a glaze has lots of dimension and I can get lost staring at it, I know it's a keeper. I'm not sure I like it *better* than the original way of creating the Aurora look, but it is different. Maybe I will just make both because I can't decide. Let me know what you think!
Merry Christmas 🎄 Thanks for a great year!

In about an hour I will have more work online. Link in Bio. (I don't have any yarn bowls ready yet 😢, but there will be lots of other things to choose from) This Galaxy Vase and the Birch Vase many of you asked about will be on there. Last Update of the YEAR 😃
I've had a few questions about the glazes used for the beach work that I just made. This example is the only one that uses all commercial glazes so it is a good one to share. I used all @amacobrent glazes for this one. I start with light sepia for the "sand" colour, then I layer blue midnight textured turquoise, indigo float and oatmeal. The second picture is my version of the "beach mug" from 2 years ago using similar glazes. Lots of tests in between these two pieces.
The last update of 2018 will be tomorrow at 1:00 pm MST ✨

I have a fascination with water. Maybe it is because I grew up on the prairies and never saw the ocean til I was grown. But I have always been drawn to it. When I was a little girl growing up on our farm, my favourite spot was an old gravel pit that had been abandoned years before when whoever was digging for gravel, eventually hit at natural spring and the pit filled up with water. It was really just a muddy slough, but I thought it was the most beautiful place on earth, my oasis away from the chaos of young life. I would sit there and watch the water rippling in the wind and feel a sense of peace. Even now, decades later, I dream about that spot. And I miss it with a part of me that I can't explain. Do you have a place like that, that you long for sometimes? This last glaze load of pots was dedicated to trying to recreate some of the ways water entrances me, the way it calms me, the way it feels like home. I tried lots of different glazes, lots of applications, and I can't wait to share them with you. 🌊
Waiting for the kiln to cool like😬😬
