Posting more doesn’t erase your past, nor does it strengthen your present. Both the past and present take effort to process and work to maintain.
A little late for #comingout day, but this post rings true for me from every angle. I am definitely guilty of judging and gossiping about others who I “knew” were gay - in fact, closeted and newly out men are often the most guilty of this type of behavior because of the pain or anger we extract from our own experience. I’ve also been outed at various stages of my own process, for instance, being out to close friends but not at school or work. Let people live their journey at whatever pace it takes. No one queer asked to be born into a world where being queer even requires a second thought, one day I hope it won’t.
News cycle is extremely overwhelming right now. Gentle reminder to engage in some self care, like I am with this $5 donut. But donut aside, it’s very important to stay informed and engaged right now - and PLEASE take 10 min. to confirm you’re registered to vote, how to vote in your area (mail-in, in-person, ballot drop boxes, etc.), and to familiarize yourself with the candidates and issues that will be on your local ballot. Tons of resources online and a google search away. Share what you learn with your family and friends, and make sure you and your circle realize that lives and rights are on the line like never before. Especially my youngest followers - they are counting on you not to show up, because you alone can change the outcome of any election. I can’t tell you who to vote for, but if anyone you love in your life is LGBTQ+ or not white or not born here or has preexisting medical conditions or is a woman...their rights and lives are quite literally depending on your vote. It’s a big year and we can effect a lot of change - if you feel hopeless, just know that so many people care about these issues and are ready to cast a vote on the right side of history. This year is not about being a Democrat or republican, it’s actually just about being a human who doesn’t want our democracy and rights to unravel in the hands of very dangerous leaders.
For what it’s worth, nothing great is ever instant.
Work on you, then work on boo
Makes me sad that so many people transform themselves thinking there’s some magic life at the end of it.
Self love season.
Don’t sweat the plastics.
Call a friend, slide into a DM...I bet you’ll find someone feeling just like you.
Leave Britney alone.
Took me a minute to learn this one.
This is the face of worn out and over it, but still managed to hit my workout and meditation goal this week...I’m looking at the distance between now and the end of the year, and refuse to sit around and wait for time to pass. There’s plenty we can all do to do be productive, happy, and fulfilled out here, even through distressing news cycles and realities. Here’s a gentle reminder to decide what you realistically want to accomplish with the rest of your year, and hold yourself accountable to it.
