Here I am, patterning myself, as the Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton. Clicked at Lipton’s Seat in the hills of Poonagala, this picture tells a wonderful tale. This statue is built at the exact same location, from where Thomas Lipton used to sit and survey his flourishing tea empire. It’s a mind blowing viewpoint! From here, I could see a glistening hilltop and ‘greenest’ tea estates across 7 provinces. Then, in a jiffy, it got misty and cloudy. I didn’t mind the weather because we were to eat lunch here. A local was gracious enough to carry lunch for us. He walked all the way up to the Lipton’s Seat and it’s a 7 km stretch. The climb takes about 2.5 hours. Encircled by serene tea plantations and friendly tea pluckers, Lipton’s Seat lets you make amazing photographic memories. On our way back to the Dambatenne Tea Factory, we took a red Tuk Tuk from this high observation point. I also toured the 18th-century Dambatenne Tea factory where Lipton tea is processed. BTW they have very clean washrooms. (Just in case) Click the link in the bio to find out more about this fantastic landmark 😊❤️ (PS: Have you read my new book - Sri Lanka, See More, Do More?) _______________________________________ #liptonsseat #liptonseat #liptonsseatsrilanka #sosrilanka #slbloggers #showlovesrilanka #srilankatravel #poonagala #poonagalahill #travelnomads #travellerslife #womenwhotravel #womentravel #womentravelers #travelwithkrazybutterfly #luxurylifestyleinfluencer #luxurylifestyle
One evening, when I was sauntering on the temple road, in Bandarawela, a white Torana caught my attention. (Swipe to see pictures) It marked the gateway to Sri Pushparamaya Viharaya, a stunning Buddhist temple. As I walked past this Dvara-Torana, a flight of stairs awaited me. Each stair, hand-carved with intricate and detailed designs. With the last stair, I stepped inside the front courtyard of the temple. On my left, was a learning centre or a Dhamma discourse hall. On my right, was a Buddhist temple and in front of me, was a gigantic Stupa. I toured them all. It was a delight to be here. Such peaceful traduction! ❤️ To know everything about this temple, click the link in bio ❤️ (PS: Have you read my new book - Sri Lanka, See More, Do More?) ______________________________________ #sripushparamayaviharaya #SoSrilanka #SLBloggers #showlovesrilanka #travelwithkrazybutterfly #bandarawela_srilanka😍✌️🇱🇰 #buddhastatue #bandarawela #bandarawelabuddhism #travellerlife #srilankaphotography #buddhisttemple #buddhism #buddhatemple #luxurylifestyleinfluencer
I still remember it as if it was yesterday. I was getting breakfast in the common room of the Bandarawela Hotel when a to-be wedded couple walked in. Dressed in detailed costumes, studded with pearls and lace, both the bride and the groom were headed for their elegant and classic Poruwa wedding. This Sinhalese wedding ceremony involves a series of rituals performed by the bride and the groom. Before the final ceremony, they stopped in the lobby and the garden to get some amazing pre-wedding shots. While their photographer chased them from one angle to another, I grabbed a few pictures myself. Interesting costumes, don’t you think? ❤️ To know everything about this wedding tradition, click the link in bio ❤️ (PS: Have you read my new book - Sri Lanka, See More, Do More?) ______________________________________ #sosrilanka #slbloggers #visitsrilanka #bandarawela #bandarawelahotel #showlovesrilanka #poruwa #indianluxuryblogger #poruwaceremony #indianlifestyleblogger #sinhalesewedding #srilankanwedding #bigfatwedding #weddinginspiration #luxurylifestyleinfluencer #travelwithkrazybutterfly
Soul in a Bowl 🍲 For one of those days when you want to devour healthy and delicious cuisine. Here’s a #Throwback to my Indonesia trip when I savoured an eclectic bowl containing crab meat, squids, glass noodles, all sorts of exotic veggies and a crackling spring roll. I made my own bowl and chose the toppings perfect for me. The crackling spring roll was added later by an Indonesian lady, who applied quite a technique to adding it to my bowl. She also added Indonesian seasonings and a variety of ingredients that were new to me. This is what I miss about travelling the most - the access to different cultures and cuisines 😊🍽 _______________________________________ #indonesiancuisine #soulinabowl #foodinfluencer #foodblogger #balinesecuisine #indianfoodblogger #indianfoodiesquad #foodiesofinstagram #bbcgoodfood #bbcgoodfoodmagazine #foodiesofindia #foodphotography #foodstagram #foodpics #foodstylist #foodheaven #foodgasm #foodforfoodies #pokebowls #foodlovers #foodaholic #foodiegram #crabmeat #travelwithkrazybutterfly
A trip to Kandy, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka is incomplete until you have attended the cultural program that gives you a gist of the classical Kandyan Dance. Idiosyncratic to Kandy, this cultural show can either be viewed between 4 - 5 or 5 - 6 PM. As it starts, the amazing Kandyan dancers, dressed in bright colourful outfits, appear on the stage to perform the best of the best dance forms. The origins of this dance ritual, Kohomba Kankariya, goes back to the era when the King of Malaya Rata performed this dance with his two brothers. As per the legendary tale, the king was suffering from a recurring nightmare, which was cured by three shamans. These shamans, along with, the king performed the Kohomba kankariya, following which the nightmare vanished. The natives then adopted the dance. Here’s a glimpse of Sri Lankan women performing a part of the dance, dressed in traditional red and white outfits. This dance show that has gained the ascendancy since the time of the ancient Kings is a must-watch in Kandy. ________________________________________ #kohombakankariya #kandayandance #kandy #sosrilanka #slbloggers #showlovesrilanka #srilankatourism #travelwithkrazybutterfly
On my first trip to Norway, I categorically decided to explore primordial Fjords and timeless Viking Heritage. Eventually, the quest delightedly landed me at the Viking Museum in Oslo. It's one thing to read Viking stories or watch movies detailing a Viking saga; another to visit a museum that lets you behold the fragments of history in person. Perched on Bygdøy peninsula, the remarkable Viking museum houses three burial, Viking ships. While here, I learnt that a bunch of archaeologists found Gokstad, Oseberg and Tune, the burial ships at the Oseberg Fjord about a century ago. A museum was then established to preserve these significant historic treasures. Gokstad, Oseberg and Tune are diversified boat-types, which were built depending on their purpose. Each of these boats looks flexible and slender, with uniform ends accompanied by the true keel. Back in the era, these silken longships were put into service as a perfect sail of the Royal vessels. Although their contribution, to the advancement in ship technology, is what made these boats famous. The technology allowed these sleek ships to sail 20-inch waters. Which worked wonders for Viking who were a dominant force of trade, warfare and politics. At the Viking Ship Museum, these longships are placed in subjoined rooms with no doors. For that reason, the interiors appear longer. From a unique structure to a distinctive hull, these marine vessels sure dominated the craftsmanship section. You can’t travel to Indonesia and not try their national dish, Nasi Goreng. While Indonesian cuisine is packed with various regional culinary traditions, this one dish sums it all up. In the frame, is Nasi Goreng Special, with the addition of fried egg. Referred to as Pakai Telur in Indonesia. This healthy dish is packed with veggies, meat, fried rice, fresh chilli, coriander, garlic and ginger. Nasi Goreng is usually cooked in seed oils and is spiced with caramelised sweet soy ‘Kecap Manis’ sauce. Additionally, this deliciously aromatic and earthy dish is accompanied with other ingredients such as, shallot, shrimp paste, egg, prawns skewers or salted dried fish. I was served this Nasi Goreng special with Chicken satay, encrusted with peanut sauce. Although, what made my lunch truly special was the picturesque backdrop that portrayed small boats sailing on the translucent waters of Lembongan 🥘 _______________________________________ #nusalembongan #nasigoreng #wonderfulindonesia #indonesianfood #nusalembonganisland #foodiesofindia #travelwithkrazybutterfly #bornoninstagram
