Reposted from @pattymanuelle I was really hungry yesterday, ok 😬 Ravenous appetite thanks to the peace of mind #outdoordining brings. My favorite weekend food market @sugbomercado is open to fill your bellies, with full implementation of safety and security protocols including dedicated entry points, temperature checks, and a strict two people per table rule with tables distanced accordingly. Its so heartening to see small businesses thrive and I'm so glad I got to taste some of their best offerings. Some stall recommendations in the tags 😋 More details to come. For now, you may visit Sugbo Mercado at @cebuitpark Wednesdays to Saturdays from 11AM to 8PM. If you're still #stayinghome as much as possible, you can have your food delivered through @lebmobile.ph or other booking apps.

Reposted from @bptcebu An Open Letter To All Our Customers Five years ago, you approached our little stall in that little weekend food market, Sugbo Mercado. Our setup was chaotic. While other sellers had professionaly made kiosks and signages and menus, we only had tables and equipment of different shapes and sizes that we scavenged from home. Our brand name was spray-painted on an old burlap sack. And our menu was handwritten in a chalkboard. We had a quirky name and we ironically didn't sell banana pancakes. Instead, we sold Pad Thai. That recipe was a leap of faith. Back then, Pad Thai was uncommon, served only in a few expensive Thai restaurants in the city, and accessible only to those who knew what it was and can afford it. And true enough, we did have several customers questioning why our 'pancit' had unusual noodles and a sweet and sour sauce. But we made it our mission to make those iconic Southeast Asian street dishes more familiar and affordable. As they should be. We made it our mission to bring you back to Bangkok or Penang or Saigon through their distinct flavors. We made it our mission to spark your curiosity. Make you try something new. Make you want to travel. In the years that followed, we started to employ staff. And since then it also became our mission to give them a decent livelihood. And we thank you for supporting our dozen staff and their families in the process. Two years ago, you gave us the SunStar Best of Cebu award. And you made it happen again the following year. And here we are a few years later. It would be an outright lie if we said we are not struggling in this pandemic. It has pushed many of us to the brink. Many restaurants have closed. And sometimes we see ourselves going that direction as well. Over the last five years we have opened eight branches. Right now there's only two left. Given the circumstances, we might even need to close one more. But we constantly remind ourselves that this is just another chapter. Another story will eventually unfold. And we will keep going because you keep us going. So to all our friends who became our customers and our customers who became our friends: Thank you for the last
