Hey friends. Although the mute is over, now is not the time to simply go back to 'normal.' . . Activism and anti-racism should be a part of our lives every day. . . I will continue to question myself and others on privilege, hold myself and others accountable to promote positive change, educate myself about racism, and reflect on how I can better support POC and be an ally while advocating on this platform. . . I will also share black-owned businesses and brands, black creators, black educators, and content from black vegans so we can all #diversifyourfeeds and #amplifymelantedvoices. . . Here's' a decadent vegan chocolate cake recipe by @jessicainthekitchen that has no funky ingredients! To get the recipe go to this link here: https://jessicainthekitchen.com/vegan-chocolate-cake-recipe/. You can also easily make this cake gluten-free by substituting the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. . . All credits go to @jessicainthekitchen . . . Any comments or suggestions on how I am starting my growth are welcome. . . With love - steph.
I will not be posting any food or recipe content this week (from June 1st to June 7th) to participate in the #amplifymelantedvoices movement created by @blackandembodied and @jessicawilson.msrd . As a white person, it is not my turn to speak. Now is the time to amplify black voices. Every message and every story is important. It is our time to listen and make space for the voices and stories that truly matter. . . What I will be doing as a white person: . . Engaging in difficult conversations with other white people. Donating and supporting black owned businesses . Amplifying the voices and experiences of people of colour. Listening to and supporting black influencers, activists, and educators. Educating myself. Calling legislatures. Further committing to anti-racism and reflecting on my own actions and privilege daily. . . I hope you will consider joining me and doing the same💛 . . Words by Desmond Tutu. Hi friends, today marks the 50th anniversary of #earthday 🌍! . . While the coronavirus is forcing us to keep our distance, there are still a variety of ways that we can come together to change our world. . . Swipe right to see a few examples of what you can do from the comfort and safety of your home on #earthday2020 👉🏻 . . No matter where you are, you can make a difference! . . I don’t talk about my take on sustainability here too often. A few things that I try to do is, buy second-hand, buy from sustainable companies, re-use whenever possible, and support local businesses. I also try and reduce the amount of plastic pollution that I produce by switching to re-usable bags, bamboo straws, bamboo to-go cutlery, I buy in bulk whenever possible, I try and bring my own Tupperware, I use re-usable cups when I go out for tea, and I try and use beauty products that come in refillable, compostable, or glass packaging. Some of these initiatives are not currently possible due to the pandemic, however, we can plan to implement these changes in the future. . . #earthdayathome #digitalconnection #ecofriendly #tips #tipsandtricks
