Seize the day😀 // So glad I decided to take my girls to the pumpkin patch and corn maze yesterday. It was a gorgeous 75 degrees and the farm was not crowded. Drastic contrast to today’s weather of 59 degrees and rain all day 👎🏾 // Real talk - It’s been hard enjoying group activities due to the pandemic because I get a little anxiety every time someone comes close to me and the kids 😬🙈 Over 90% of the people there were wearing face masks but you still had some people taking them off or having their kids run around on the rides without it🤯 Needless to say, we social distanced from them🙅🏾♀️ Although the kids had fun, I feel so sad that they don’t have a lot of interaction with other kids any more😞 Can’t wait for this pandemic to be over. The fatigue is real! 😭 On the bright side, we had to the corn maze all to ourselves 😀 Cheers to the weekend! Anyone else having anxiety when they go out? ⛰ Munsee Lenape Land *Health note - We all wore face masks and removed them temporarily to take this photo. No one was in the maze with us. #fallactivities #cornmaze #pumpkinpatch #girlmom #momlife
Yes you have the right account. // I wanted to take a moment to highlight Brigid Kosgei. The winner of this year’s 2020 London Marathon Women’s race in a time of 2:18:58. She demolished and I mean demolished the competition by more than 3 minutes despite cold and rainy conditions on a 19 lap course in St. James Park with no spectators. It was amazing!🙌🏾😀 Since her win, I’ve been looking forward to getting a detailed race recap from the media. I wanted to learn more about her training during a pandemic, what it’s like being away from her kids(she has twins), what it was like running loops in St. James Park, did she repeat any mantras while running the race, did she miss the crowds, and so much more. I mean this is the World’s fastest female marathoner and half marathoner. Unfortunately I haven’t found this information. The media coverage on her for a highly anticipated race has been abysmal. Instead they have chosen to praise and focus on the 2nd place finisher rather than the winner🤯 The 2nd place finisher, who sprinted to cross the finish line 3 mins after Brigid. This felt like a repeat of the Aliphine Tuliamuk @aliphine coverage at this year’s Olympic Trials. I have been hopeful that things were changing but it’s clear they are not. It’s shameful. And please do NOT try to justify this by saying it’s because she’s not American. It’s BS! This the World’s Fastest Female Marathoner and she should be covered as such. Congratulations 🎉 again @brigidkosgeithereal Thank you for inspiring me and countless others to push through obstacles and be the best! *Updated* Actions Items: - Follow @brigidkosgeithereal - If you’re a Sports Journalist, write articles about her race experience in detail. - If you’re a Podcaster or Youtuber, interview her - If you’re a fan, share her on your feed and/or stories 😀 Photos: London Marathon #brigidkosgei #londonmarathon #londonmarathon2020 #the40thrace #amplifymelanatedvoices #speakup #speakupspeakout

This is the face of a Mama who just completed ✅ her first virtual relay race 😄🤗 Our team, By Any Means, covered over 700 miles virtually from Atlanta to DC in 7 days in the Womxn Run the Vote relay👏🏾👏🏾 My goal was to contribute at least 35 miles and I ended up doing 40 miles and the night is still young 😉 It was fun to get in consistent movement while getting a civil rights history lesson along the way. // Congrats to everyone on our team along with the thousands of others that participated in the other 400 teams. We did it! 🎉 #WomxnRunTheVote #MotherRunner #MomsWhoRun #DiverseRunnersWorld

Take nothing for granted. // The fresh air you breathe. Your ability to walk or run outside. The roof over your head. The comfortable bed you sleep in. The food on your table. Your clean clothes. Clean running water. Appreciate it all because it could be gone in the blink of an eye. // My heart goes out to everyone on the West Coast affected by the horrific wildfires and everyone in the Southeast affected by Hurricane Sally😞 I will be praying for your safety and recovery. // If you’re in Delaware, there’s still time to vote 🗳 in today’s primaries. Polls close at 8pm. Remember every election matters. Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Climate change is real! Go vote 🗳 #climatechangeisreal #climatecrisis #diverserunnersworld #runforchange
Note to self: Do more Mommy and toddler yoga 🧘🏾♀️ 😃 // They say parents influence kids to be better but recently it’s been the other way around. I’ve been slacking on flexibility and mobility training even though I know it’s super important. Thankfully my oldest will randomly come up to me and say “Mommy, let’s do yoga” and then break out into a yoga pose🤩 So for the remainder of the month, I’ve committed to doing more yoga😀👍🏾 // Anyone else finding their kids influencing their training or eating habits for the better? #SelfcareSunday
Remembering 9/11. 19 years later, it’s a day I’ll never forget. // I was working in midtown and had planned to go to Century 21 Department stores early that morning😬The store was located directly across from the World Trade Center. My boss held me back to talk and I was so annoyed with him for doing that. In hindsight, I was very lucky because I could’ve been in that building that day taking the train. When I was getting ready to head out, a co-worker asked if I heard that a plane crashed into one of the towers at the World Trade Center. We assumed it was a small plane and thought it was just an unfortunate accident. Then 15 mins later another co-worker called in and said another plane crashed into the second tower while she was watching the news. That’s when we knew something was wrong and scrambled to get a tv. We watched in horror as everything unfolded including the collapsing of both towers. The phone lines were jammed and my office became chaotic since many people, including me, had family and friends that worked in those buildings. It all felt like a really bad dream that I couldn’t wake up from. // My husband and I walked over 125 blocks to get home in Washington Heights that day. I still have the sneakers I wore on that journey(see carousel). The feeling of fear, sadness, anxiety and pain I felt during those miles cannot be described. I was young and didn’t know how to process it. // Unfortunately we all knew someone who lost a family member, friend or work colleague that day and things felt heavy. Much like the way things are feeling today. Don’t know how I’ll process this current time in our lives either, but I know I’ll never forget. // Today’s miles dedicated to everyone lost. Gone but not forgotten🙏🏾 #remembering911 #September11 #911 #NYC #Neverforget #Gonebutnotforgotten
Everything is by design. Nothing is an accident. // Only 56 days until the General Election. 22 days for the Census deadline. Still a couple hours left to vote in today’s primaries in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Remember that every single election matters. Every voice matters. Every vote matters. Go vote 🗳 // Minutes on the pavement always worth it 😀 #Diverserunnersworld #diversewerun
Celebrate the small wins // I got time for myself this evening and went for a run 🏃🏾♀️ 🤗 Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post. Really appreciate the support🙏🏾 Hope everyone has a happy, healthy and safe holiday weekend😃 #DiverseRunnersWorld
Parenting toddlers during a pandemic. // With all the curveballs that life and motherhood throws at me, this has to be the craziest. Caring for two toddlers around the clock with no childcare, no school, no play dates, no travel, limited activities with a husband working from home is exhausting! I’m supposed to be working too, but with 2 kids under the age of 4, that’s a joke🤦🏾♀️ I’ve tried my best to play teacher 👩🏾🏫 and sometimes it works. Other times my kids either check out and run off or they’ll get super clingy and literally fight to sit on my lap😫 They are so young that they require constant supervision and attention. My daughter’s preschool is open and the plan pre-pandemic was to have my youngest enrolled for this past Spring so both of them would’ve been going full time. But once the pandemic hit and now 5 months in with the high death toll and recent outbreaks from schools reopening, I don’t feel comfortable sending either of them. Despite some schools best efforts, I just don’t think they are doing enough. Temperature checks are useless in my opinion since many people are asymptomatic and there’s no way you can expect a child to keep a face mask on properly(my daughter rarely has it on her nose), all day. Heck, you can’t even get adults to do it 😖 And children are super spreaders of germs and viruses 🦠 I swear my daughter got sick with a cold from school almost every week even though her school was big on disinfecting, sterilizing and washing hands. To top it off, I have pandemic insomnia. I go to sleep late around 1/2am and then I get up at 6am/7am sometimes earlier so Mama is tired😩 So where does this leave me? Winging it. Some days we are super productive, other days we are not. I’m not gonna beat myself up. We are all just trying to survive, stay alive and do our best. Picture is from our almost daily walk outside around the neighborhood😀 A reminder that it’s voting 🗳 season and there’s a state primary today in Massachusetts. You still have a couple hours until the poll closes. Make your voice heard and be sure to vote 🗳 for people who believe in science👍🏾 How are you Mom’s and Dad’s handling parenting during the pandemic?
