We love our volunteers and their hearts of service! Listen to six of our volunteers who served in Louisiana this past week share why they enjoyed helping homeowners recover from #HurricaneLaura & #HurricaneDelta.
Our COVID care center in Nassau, Bahamas is under construction. This Emergency Field Hospital will expand the local hospital's capacity for treating patients with the #coronavirus. Please keep our team and the patients they will soon see in your prayers.
After escaping the Almeda fire in Jackson County, Oregon with only a cell phone and the clothes on her back, Karen said her faith is keeping her strong in the midst of grief. "The peace that passes all understanding — That's how He is carrying me through right now. I have the peace that He gives." "He saved me through the fire. Twice! Once when I accepted Him as my personal Lord and Savior and then He saved me from this fire. He saved me from a fire twice. Wow!" Our Samaritan’s Purse U.S. Disaster Relief volunteers spent time with Karen at her property. Along with digging through the ashes of her property, we were able to encourage her by presenting her with a Bible in this difficult time. Please keep the people of #Oregon in your prayers as the road to recovery from these devastating wildfires is just beginning for many.
Today is #WorldFoodDay! Our team in #SouthSudan continues to distribute food provided by @worldfoodprogramme to #refugees & other vulnerable people. We are working in five locations across the country, and in each of these areas we provide food staples to families in need. Just last year we provided food to more than half a million people in the country. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to put a strain on many, please keep the people of South Sudan in your prayers. 🇸🇸
Our DC-8 plane carrying a 28-bed Emergency Field Hospital has arrived in the Bahamas. This COVID care center will assist the local Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau that has reached capacity as coronavirus cases have recently risen. In cooperation with the Bahamas Ministry of Health, we will also will be providing infection prevention and control (IPC) training for national health care workers. 🇧🇸
Faiza fled south with her family as the war and violence in Sudan became too dangerous. With no steady source of income and floods that destroyed the cultivating lands, Faiza struggles to provide for her five children. Each month, we provide food staples like sorghum, lentils, and oil to more than 300,000 refugee families in South Sudan like Faiza's. These food staples are a necessity for many families in desperate situations. “There’s no way we can go back home. There’s still war going on. If you continued to stay there, you wouldn’t have food. In that place, there was nothing.” Click the link in our bio to help us provide food for #refugee families around the world.
When #HurricaneDelta slammed ashore it caused even more damage to communities already overwhelmed from the destruction of #HurricaneLaura. We are so grateful for our volunteers who have answered the call to join us in serving homeowners in these days of recovery.
Part of our focus on caring for victims of crisis is serving refugees in need. These children and their parents fled the war and violence of their home in the Middle East and sought refuge in Iraq at a refugee camp. Your gift as a part of our Christmas Catalog allow us to provide #refugees with necessities like clothes, food, and medical care in their time of great need. #GiveHope
The COVID-19 pandemic has increased food instability for many communities. Quarantine and loss of work have made it difficult for many parents to feed their families. In Colombia, we are continuing to provide food to vulnerable families during this difficult time. We are also able to share with them the Good News of the Great Provider, Jesus Christ. Click the link in our bio to provide food for a family for a whole month for just $35. #GiveHope
#HurricaneDelta came ashore Friday just miles away from where #HurricaneLaura made landfall earlier this year. Our disaster relief teams already on the ground in Lake Charles, DeRidder, DeQuincy, and Jennings will continue to serve families affected by both storms. If interested in volunteering in Louisiana with us, please visit spvolunteer.org. We're also on the ground in Jackson County, Oregon and Baldwin County, Alabama serving those communities after other disasters.
"The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save." Zephaniah 3:17 We seek to come alongside refugees like these Syrian refugees in Iraq and provide necessities like clothes, food, and medical care in Jesus' Name. Click our link in bio to learn more!
