Happy Mother’s Day to the Mothers of my life and yours 😍😍😍
Some of the best moments are captured with awkward photos 🤣 how are you spending your weekend? I’m definitely not spending it like this 😭 How my Saturday looks like: - Homeschool Miguel - Do Korean Language class assignments - Attend Korean Class - Respond to a few work emails 😬 - Feed Rafa on demand 👶🏻 - Watch movies / TV series with @markruiz There was a time when I was super precious about keeping weekends without any work and then there was a time when I worked myself to the ground all week long. But now, I don’t have a strict no-work rule for myself during weekends anymore but I am still careful to not fill it up with work 😅 Balance is not really a noun, but a verb. This system has worked well for me as it allows me to mentally let go of my own expectations. And if I’m honest (and I always try to be), my own expectations intensify my stress levels. 🤷🏼♀️
GIVAWAY ALERT! ◡̈ For this SUPER HOT weather, I stocked up on my @BayaniBrew teas stash AND I’m giving away TWO 500 PESO DIGITAL GIFT CARDS that the winners can use to shop at www.bayanibrew.com ◡̈ Each gift card can already get you half a dozen bottles of Bayani Brew OR the gift packages available in their website (swipe!). The entrepreneurs behind this brand are good friends of mine for the past decade (parang decade na ata! haha) or so. But I am not being biased when I say that Bayani Brew’s Farm Fresh Teas are AMAZING and just perfect for this scorching hot weather. Aside from having super refreshing and yummy beverages, they are also committed to supporting local organic farming communities, promote farmland development, and help Filipino farmers thrive. This is the kind of bio that makes me cry happy tears! To join this giveaway, just do the following: - follow @reesefernandez, follow @bayanibrew - and really, check them out and learn more about them! - tag 2 friends in the comments section below! - Maximum of 3 comments per person only please ◡̈ I’ll randomly select the 2 winners (who will win 1 gift card each) and announce them on May 6, 5:00pm via IG Stories. This giveaway is only for Philippine-based entries. Note: Quick background: This giveaway is my little way of supporting some of the local brands I personally love. I intentionally support local brands and businesses when I can, but I want to take it a step further and share my space and platform to highlight their products / services and the important work they do. ◡̈ I’ll do this as often as I can, so feel free to DM me about local brands (especially those that are small and are still growing their market) that I should try and feature! IMPORTANT: I don’t ask for free stuff from SMEs! I often get unsolicited gifts from brands of all sizes (and I love them too of course!), but I don’t ever solicit for free stuff especially not from MSMEs. I like supporting MSMEs through buying from them and sharing their products / services in any way I can ◡̈
Welcome to what actually happens behind the scenes! Thankfully with the right angle, no one from my Zoom calls or conferences can see that crib, the pile of disorganized books, and that box of random stuff I prop my phone on. 🤣😜 This has been my life for more than a year now and yes, it gets tiring and boundaries are… what boundaries? 😭 The struggle is still so real. Doing work these days is challenging, but finding work is also challenging. 😓 I get by because I have the tools to work well (even if they are not always instagrammable haha) AND I get to work on things I love with people I admire! So I also do what I can to help others either work better, or find work that could sustain their lives & families. So here is a #PSA: If you are looking for a job, you know someone who is, or you MAY know someone who is (because you never know until you share!), download the @pasajobph app now! PasaJob is the first long-chain referral-based job matching platform in the Philippines that rewards you for connecting businesses to the right candidates - and that right candidate could also be you! So Pass-A-Job this Labor Day! The struggle gets lighter when we help each other.
I don’t think I have ever properly introduced myself here even after years of being active on IG (or I just can’t remember 🤣). So here is an introduction (pls imagine the hairflip right before the intro for maximum effect 🤪): I’m Reese, but my full name is (inhale!!!) Therese Clarence Arellano Chua Fernandez-Ruiz (and exhale!). Very haciendera without the hacienda. 🤣 I am an Aries and born on the year of the Ox, but I don’t know what that means haha I’m a mom of 2, wife of one 😅, and entrepreneur of sustainable fashion brand, @rags2richesinc (and @thingsthatmatterph) that I co-founded 13 years ago. I have also built some baby brands alongside my husband (@sanitizeph @inabottleph) and do strategic finance consulting for inclusive tech ventures #TalinoLabs. 🥳 In between life, business, work, homeschooling, Kdrama, and BTS (#ARMY) 💜, I do brand engagements, talks, and workshops as well. It may seem like I have my sh*t together. Most of the time, I do. And this is thanks to my tribe of friends & family AND many years of losing my sh*t & 💩 hitting the fan. Practice makes progress indeed! haha But there are still times when I fall apart. I still get lost, feel like an impostor, crave for validation, and get insecure. But there is one thing that I consistently got good at: trying to get better one small step at a time.👣 👩🏫I share stories and lessons I learned the hard way so hopefully you don’t have to. I tend to find deeper meaning in stuff so expect musings and lessons on life, marriage, business, motherhood, self-care, productivity, and even seemingly mundane things like instant noodles 🤣 I wear my vulnerability proudly so I’ll also share my very real struggles as an entrepreneur and a woman in this work-in-progress world. ❤️ I hope that I get to be one of the people on your feed who can inspire you, spark new ideas, or just help make you feel that you are not alone. I mean, I really enjoy creating content, but if the content I share can actually help others, that would be AMAZING! AND #BTS would be proud 💜💜💜🤣🤣🤣 #fridayintroductions
LONG CAPTION AHEAD 😜🤣😆 My 5 steps to getting out of a slump: 1 - Accept that you are in a slump and know that that’s okay. We are all struggling these days so don’t beat yourself up too much for not feeling or giving 100% lately. 2 - Do something that can be done in 1 minute. Seriously! It could be a very simple thing like fixing your bed or washing your mug. The goal is to have one small thing done. A small feeling of accomplishment goes a long way 3 - Get active! You don’t have to do a full workout (yet) if you are not there yet. If you are like me and workout is like torture, do something physical that you actually love. I love dancing so I open Spotify, go to my #BTS playlist, and dance freestyle to one song (or more haha). Find your joyful physical activity and do that for a few minutes. 4 - Take an intentional shower. Yes, INTENTIONAL. Put on some music, light a candle, or just simply enjoy the smell of your soap and the time that you have to be by yourself and your thoughts. 5 - Make a list - make it realistic. It is still important to get things done especially if you have commitments. Don’t ghost people or deny the existence of your tasks. Trust me, it will only get worse if you do. Face everything you have to do, do some of them, reschedule some (and inform those who could get affected), cancel some (and again, inform those who could get affected) and try again tomorrow ◡̈ Some of these hacks may work for you too! Whenever you feel lost and disoriented, try to look for small joyful moments and simple hacks that can help lift you up and eventually get you back on track. On top of all these, yes, I also try to remember my WHY. But let’s be honest, there are times when even the WHY does not feel as compelling. And when motivation takes a backseat, discipline takes the wheel. ◡̈ What are your practical hacks / tools / tricks to get back on track? #business #productivityhacks #productivity #entrepreneurship
It may seem like I get all my poses and shots right because, well, only the non-weird ones make it to our @rags2richesinc website. Because... professional kami 😅😜 But the reality is, I sift through SO MANY photos just to get the ones that are good enough for our website. Around 80% of the photos I take look strange and weird. Case in point —> next picture. 😆 I delete most of these pictures because storage space is essential, but I keep a few to remind myself that perfection is a construct. Wow, pati sa photoshoot-from-home may philosophical takeaway?! haha yes, #SorryNotSorry So that I don’t get super flooded with DMs (nuks), I’ll answer the usual questions here: 1) The tops I’m wearing are the new On-Off Shoulder Tops from @rags2richesinc - you can wear this with sleeves, without sleeves, off-shoulder, reversed sleeves 2) The skirt is called Rose Skirt, from our latest summer collection. You can overlap it in two ways too 3) What was I doing in the second photo? Trying to elongate my neck. And that’s the result. 😜 Ganda noh? Don’t answer that.
I stand on the shoulders of the women who came before me and the women around me. So I make sure that I follow (on social media and in real life!) the power women who inspire me to be better and who share their journeys with honesty and vulnerability. Vulnerability is such an underrated super power! It has the power to inspire, not in an aspirational-I-probably-can't-do-it way, but in a way that is so human and relatable. Vulnerability paves the way for others to appreciate their own journeys and progress one step at a time without the unrealistic pressure of being perfect (because no one is!). Thank you @joyanyalim , @kakkiness , @annaoposa , and @audreyferriol (and the women in my team in @rags2richesinc) for being some of the women who inspire me to be better through your friendship and your grace of vulnerability. The women entrepreneur programs of @cocacolaph, also encourages women to get connected, stay connected, and share stories of their own very real journeys of starting, failing, standing up, and succeeding. We need more platforms that do the same because when we empower more women, we make the world better. #KababaeMongTao, lahat kaya mo! #GoBeyondGood
I thought I should write something profound for my 36th birthday but you know what? I don’t want to. 🤣 But who knows? This may still evolve into a life lesson because I tend to overreflect even over jokes and random stuff. So here goes. In about an hour, I’ll be celebrating 36 years on Earth and another year in lockdown. But still, I’m celebrating. I’m celebrating... - One year of finally religiously applying a night serum for the first time in my life - Learning a new language! I’m studying Korean a few hours every weekend. So when I watch Kdrama now, I can package it as “research” 😜 - One year of homeschooling my 4-year old and still being on good terms with him 🤪 - A few months of being ARMY and sort of virtually adopting 7 sons (fine, brothers haha) from another country 💜 - The privilege of being able to work from home (@rags2richesinc & #TalinoLabs) & even starting baby businesses @sanitizeph and @inabottleph - Another year of @rags2richesinc / @thingsthatmatterph - we managed to stay alive and thrive because of our awesome team, artisans, and advocates - A year of being with family, seeing my kids grow up right before my eyes, and hanging out with my husband @markruiz - Simply surviving this year. Surviving is an achievement in itself. I mean, I love the things I was and still am able to do during this challenging time but there are times when I still wish I get to bake / cook something, create art, or just keep a plant alive. 😭But whenever I feel unproductive or lagging behind, I just remind myself that here I am, living in the longest lockdown in the world, and yet those who made it happen still call their pandemic response “excellent”. So really, I should not beat myself up too much. 🥲 See? Profound. 🤣🤣🤣
Yaay we (me and @markruiz) did it again ◡̈ Most of you probably know that we came up with our pandemic baby last year called @sanitizeph! And we are so grateful for all of our partners and supporters! While that is still going on and will always be our original (sanitizer) baby, we decided to come up with a limited edition collection of experimental scents. And trust me and my hyper allergic nose, they smell great and won’t likely cause repeated sneezing. 🤣🥰 Introducing: IN A BOTTLE @inabottleph ! It is a brand of limited edition scented sanitizers that whisk you away to moments & places. 🌅 🏖️ 🌲🍹The scents are sweet 💐, calming 🧘🏻 , & delicate 🌸 but the protective power of 70% alcohol is fierce 🔥 I designed the labels, curated the scents, and re-imagined the places and moments that each scent will evoke. Each variant made me happy and took away a little bit of the worries that came with this very challenging time. We hope they make you happy (and safe!) too! Shop now via link in my bio ◡̈ And pleaaase follow @inabottleph!
