SWIPE LEFT. The story: I’ll never forget when I purchase the @thesource magazine in 2000. They had a “Fat Tape” segment that spoke about new releases and reviews if I’m not mistaken. Shout to @sorenbaker 👊🏾 From that article, I was introduce to my first beattape called #Petestrumentals Vol.1 by the legendary Soul Brother #1 @realpeterock. I was in NYC at the time and immediately went to the #VirginMegaStore and copped the first addition. Been a fan of this series and instrumental projects ever since. 19 years later on last year after joining Pete Rock’s newly formed band #PeteRockAndTheSoulBrothers, I had the honor of being the drummer and musical director. We were asked to back Pete for his #ReturnOfTheSP1200 release party on May 22, 2019. A few members of the original band lineUP were not available for the gig, so we went with what we had because the show had already been cancelled before due to the lost of the great #NipseyHussle After the performance since everyone was in town, we ended up going in @electricgarden_ studios to record on the same night. Ended up tracking until 5am. 🤦🏾‍♂️ Shout to @jackieboommusic @kanevibrations @rocktheknobs 🙏🏾 Part two of this story will come on another day but in the meantime #Petestrumentals Vol.3 is finally gonna see the light.
