Platform Gallery will be closing at the end of our current exhibition. Our last day of trading will be 16 March. This is due to a combination of personal and business factors, but which have been exacerbated by the current economic conditions and the fact that our current location has not worked out for us. Thank you to all our incredible staff, artists, customers, friends and supporters, who have made this such a wonderful space for artists, art lovers and the community as a whole. We couldn’t have done any of this without you, and your belief in our mission. It has been my honour to steer what we believe is the first commercial feminist gallery in Australia for these past (almost) three years. In that time I have shown 50 exhibitions, with 92% of our artists being women, which is an incredible feat for any gallery, anywhere. I am heartened by the opening of galleries such as Finkelstein in Melbourne, and by the recent concerted efforts of public galleries, all of whom will continue the work of correcting the gender imbalance in collections and exhibitions. I will be continuing my feminist mission after the gallery, including my existing consulting work, my personal performance practice and my research degree. Feminist book club will continue, just at a different location. And of course, as a local, you will still see a lot of me! Our final trading days will be: Monday 9 March Friday 13 March Saturday 14 March Sunday 15 March Monday 16 March I will still be around to finalise pick-ups, lay buys etc after that, as I live locally, however if you do have work to pick up it would be great if you can do that this week if possible. Feel free to email with any questions: firstname.lastname@example.org Kelly, JL and the Platform Team xx

Helen Poyser is a London-born artist living and working in the Blue Mountains. Her practise reflects her experiences living in and around the Persian Gulf as a child and travelling extensively. Each of Poyser’s handmade pieces involves sourcing and deconstructing discarded materials with which, enhanced by semi-precious components, Poyser improvises new, delicate forms and elaborate talismanic assemblages 📿 #helenpoyser #art #artmaking #jewellery #jewelry #platformgallery #katoomba #bluemountains #bluemountainsnsw #visitbluemountains #shoplocal
