It took us a little longer than planned, but we finally have online e-gift cards! Now you can go to our website and send your favourite people the best gift of all - coffee! They can use the online gift card to order anything from us online direct from our website. Did we mention we do free same-day delivery in Calgary and free shipping anywhere in Canada? ($40 min purchase). Brilliant creative work by @jonathan_herman @Daughter_creative.

We want to give a huge shout out to @rndsqr_ for putting together the Small Business Care Box. It’s in times like these that support for local business is so vital, and @rndsqr_ has organized an amazing initiative that makes it easy for the community to support local. Thank you to @rndsqr_ but, just as importantly, thank you to community who purchased the Small Business Care Box - your support is greatly appreciated by all! #supportlocalyyc

We love our limited release coffees. They are unique, expressive, thought provoking and delicious. Normally their price limits who gets to try them but for the next 30 days we are discounting these coffees by 25% so more people get a chance to experience them. This is the first time we have ever discounted these coffees so take advantage while supplies last.

Small coffee producers, like Juan Rodriguez are going to need our help now more than ever. Many coffee producing countries are in the middle of their harvest and despite increased efforts to limit social distancing, nature waits for nobody and these producers are forced to keep harvesting and hope that there are still buyers for their coffees.⁣ ⁣ It’s no secret that the COVID crisis in coffee consuming countries is having an impact on consumption (especially in coffee shops) so there is bound to be some impact to coffee producers. The good news is that you as a consumer can help with this problem. If you see the name of a person on the label of the coffee you buy, then you are helping as there is a good chance that this coffee is grown by an individual small farmer.⁣ ⁣ The mass market for coffee - almost entirely grocery - is presently booming as people are forced to stay home and buy coffee from physical or online grocers. Unfortunately, nearly all of these purchases will not help small producers, but rather large operations.⁣ ⁣ If there’s some small bit of silver lining that we can take from this awful situation is that, as consumers, we have the collective strength to effect change and improve the situation for thousands of coffee farmers around the world. If we decide to support these small growers then we will move the needle and shift some wealth back to the small producers.

With many of you isolating at home and in need of coffee, we wanted to put some things in place to help you out. ⁣ ⁣ Starting today, we are offering all coffee ordered online through our website at 10% off. You can now order Almond, Oat, and Chai milk alternatives online too. ⁣ ⁣ We're also lowering the minimum order amount to receive free shipping in Canada from $65 to $40. ⁣ ⁣ Let the coffee keep flowing, friends!

Hello friends,⁣ ⁣ Your social distancing skills are very impressive as attested to by the above photo, thanks for working together to keep our city safer!⁣ ⁣ On top of the strict safety protocols we introduced last week, we’ve also been sanitizing the pin-pad between each customer, and passing lids with tongs or napkins to minimize handling.⁣ ⁣ We’ve pared-down our offerings a bit, but our cafes are still serving takeaway drinks, coffee beans, donuts and pastries. To minimize touch-points even further, you can use our App to order any of these now. ⁣ ⁣ If you’re staying home, hit our website for a few promotions we’ll be running this week, to make sure your coffee needs are met. Oh, and if you feel inclined to cheer up your self-isolating friend, might we shamefully self promote our donut delivery service at: ⁣ ⁣ On a more somber note, as of tomorrow, we’ll have to close our Chinook location until further notice. This week and last have been trying as we’ve had to say a temporary good-bye to 47 members of our P&S family. Now, 23 of us remain: pulling shots, roasting, shipping coffee, and making donuts to warm your souls. ⁣ ⁣ We know these are challenging times for everyone, but we have to work to find the silver lining, whether it’s spending more time with the family, taking up new hobbies, cleaning-up the closet we dared not enter, or perfecting our home coffee brewing technique ;-)⁣ ⁣ Take care and stay safe,⁣ Sebastian and Phil⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Marda: 7:30 - 7:00PM⁣ ⁣ Mission: 8:00 - 3:00 PM⁣ ⁣ Simmons: 7:30 - 5:00PM⁣ ⁣ Calgary Place: 8:00 - 3:00 PM (weekdays)⁣ ⁣ Chinook: CLOSED⁣ ⁣ Stephen Ave: CLOSED⁣

A heartfelt thank you to all of our customers who have continued to support local businesses!⁣ ⁣ We want to let you know that as of tomorrow, we are TAKE-OUT SERVICE ONLY. We love offering a community space, and we know many of you will be disappointed to hear this news. However, even with limited seating the risk is too great, and we need to do our part.⁣ ⁣ Also as of tomorrow, our Stephen Avenue cafe will temporarily close, but all others will remain open. Please check-in on Google to see the latest hours for each cafe, as things may change. ⁣ ⁣ We understand and support our industry friends who have temporarily closed their doors, and we’ve had many people ask us why we just don’t close as well. To be clear, this is not about making money for our business, as we won’t be anywhere near profitable through this ordeal. It’s been an enormous effort to continue to adapt our business to the day-by-day changes, so in many ways closing would be easier.⁣ ⁣ Remaining open is simply about taking care of our staff by keeping as many of them employed and earning money as possible, as they depend on that income to live. While the government has eased the access to EI, it’s still better for them to be earning direct income. We’ve asked each staff member whether they feel safe to continue to work and those that don’t feel safe will be staying home. On that note, our staff have navigated this unprecedented event with such impressive grace; we’re so privileged to have each of you on our team.⁣ ⁣ Of course this situation is changing rapidly, and we will continue to monitor to act quickly to protect our team and our community.⁣ ⁣ Still, we understand that many of you might choose to remain at home. If this is the case and you still want the goods, you can order our coffee bags online from or donuts from or SkipTheDishes. ⁣ ⁣ Whether you support us or another local roaster, please keep doing it. Your support is so meaningful at this time. Encourage others to find out which local businesses are offering products that you can enjoy at home. Let’s use this opportunity to take care of each other and our community!⁣ ⁣ Love,⁣ Seb & Phil
