Today we fly back to France for a week. After that we'll get to the UK for another before coming back to Chengdu. There won't be a lot of visiting this time, mainly a lot of family time. If, like us, you live in a foreign country, how often do you go back to visit family? #goinghome #francetravel #France #fodorsonthego #forbestravelguide #bbctravel #chengduexpat
I've turned 32 yesterday and realised that in the past year I have badly neglected our website that I love so much. I've struggled to manage everything going on in our lives and, once again, am promising to myself to try and do better this year. I know I should also try a more personal approach but as always it is difficult for us to do so. I'll try, can't promise much but I will. #chengdu #dufu #china_travel #Sichuan #chengduexpat
Villages in the plateau pretty much all have this charm. An empty field, mountains and a few houses sprouting in the middle of it all. Mosika is no exception and the temple at the middle makes it all a little more special. #Sichuan #yestochina #visitsichuan #visitchina #china_travel #instachina
A few hundred kilometres later and I am back from Mosika. A village located about two hours away from Danba, only a small road leads there and along the way there's nothing but forest, rivers and plateau. At 4400m high, it's tough not to feel shortness of breath. Solar panels surround houses and the village to provide electricity, people go by their day while tourists go in search of the famed marmot which, supposedly, isn't too scared of human interaction. But during May holiday, marmots know better and it's under the bemused looks of the locals that visitors run to the one or two unwise marmots that have emerged. #Mosika #danba #Sichuan #visitsichuan #visitchina #bbctravel #fodorsonthego #forbestravelguide #instachina #ilovechina #ig_china
Decision decision... I am given the possibility to go to a village near Danba that I've always wanted to see over the may holiday we have coming up next week but... (Because there's always one of those ) That would mean leaving Robb behind because it's three days and too short notice for a bunny sitter and also it's spending money we have to spend on flight tickets for this summer and also it might make a normally quiet village very busy... I'm very much leaning towards a yes because it's my one chance to go there after all... Let's see how it goes! #travelchina #Sichuan #Danba #yestochina #bbctravel #ig_china #china_travel
Don't ask me to pick a favourite slot in #Sichuan , it's pretty much impossible, I enjoy the beauty of each place for some very different reasons but I've got to say... Bipenggou is never a bad idea.. #china_travel #Sichuan #chengdu #yestochina #instachina #nationalpark #bipenggou #ig_china
This week will be me finally sharing the final pictures of my trip to #Austria back in 2018. It took me a while. Technical problems but also not feeling very much like editing photos, I am just now finishing the pictures I took almost a year ago! Prepare for a few pictures of Austria this week while I finish the rest of my editing on France! #visitaustria #waterfall #traveleurope
Well hello spring! The weather is changing and flowers are starting to bloom here in Sichuan. And what better time to visit China's many gardens? If you're in #suzhou make sure to stop by the many that surround the city! I'll get my garden fix with my own in Sichuan and with the blooming countryside! #yestochina #china_travel #garden
Last year I had spend a fair bit of time all on my own while Robb left for the UK to see his family but thankfully he got back in February and we went to the city of Anren to explore this ancient town that many seem to go and see in the Summer... Well I can see why, sadly being off season the bright streets of the city were suddenly very grey and the colourful umbrellas hanged along the path were full of dead leaves and didn't inspire as much charm as they might do later in the season. Yet, I enjoyed the day but would sincerely pick other little ancient towns around Chengdu instead of this one. #visitchina #sichuan #idiscoverchina #china_travel #bbctravel #anren #sharechina #discoverchina #forbestravelguide #yestochina #四川 #forbestravelguide #cntraveler #tasteintravel #traveldeeper #guardiantravelsnaps #ancienttown #offseason #athomeintheworld #darlingescapes #tlpicks #fodorsonthego
Two years ago we decided to spend our honeymoon in Japan and what a wonderful time going back to this country where I got my first job, a bloody long time ago now. I've always loved those fake examples of the food they tend to put at the windows of the shops, allowing you to pick easily if you'd fancy eating there or not so it was hard to resist a quick picture of this restaurant's window! Which one would you pick? #visitjapan #foodtravel #ramen #Tokyo
Following my idea of going back to older pictures I might have passed on, here is one taken a few days before I got married to my wonderful husband, 3 years ago. Because getting married in the mainland being two foreigners seemed impossible (though I was told since that it was possible? Not sure if it really is), we decided to fly to Hong-Kong to get all the paperwork done. It was simple, there wasn't much to it but it was still a wonderful day. A day before that we decided to explore this massive city a little and I couldn't get over the fact of how busy and fast it was compared to Chengdu we've got so used to. #hongkong #bbctravel #reflection #sharechina #discoverchina #forbestravelguide #yestochina #nightlife #cntraveler #tasteintravel #traveldeeper #guardiantravelsnaps #athomeintheworld #darlingescapes #tlpicks #fodorsonthego #travelstoke #livetravelchannel #lovetheworld #mytinyatlas #letsgoeverywhere #expediapic #bestintravel #theprettycities #guardiancities
I've not posted very regularly lately because of a ton of backlog I keep getting. So what better way than to go and rediscover old pictures I never shared before? That might make me get back to a lot more travel photography, at least I hope! I'll start this week with pictures taken in February. This one was taken in Harbin for the amazing Ice and Snow festival in 2015. Despite the cold, seeing all those ice sculptures turn into lanterns at night was one of my favourite experiences and one I'd love to experience again hopefully soon enough! Have you been to Harbin or to maybe another Ice and Snow Festival? What was your experience like? #visitchina #iceandsnow #Harbin #discoverchina #instachina #ig_china
