She also ate some broccoli, other veggies, lots of protein, and fit the croissant into her macros. THIS is what I want to teach. You can have fun foods and see progress if you balance your diet with healthier options too. Rachel is also working out 4-5 times a week doing weight training & cardio circuits. Let this sink in. When it comes to health and fitness, our culture is consumed with weight and appearance. When you focus on external validation – things outside yourself – it strips you of your power. You end up relying on the scale, the mirror, and other people to tell you how you feel about yourself. What if instead, you took pride in all of the amazing things your body CAN do – and loved it for all of its strength, power, and resilience? This is a radical shift in thinking – but incredibly empowering. Your self worth is not validated by a mirror, a tape measure, or a box on the floor. Don’t be consumed by external validation. The only one who determines your self worth is YOU.
Because others deserve to have a tribe like ours who fight for and believe in each other. Because everyone deserves to not only feel better but BE better. I have a client who had a huge mental breakthrough the other day. She ate a Starbucks Pumpkin Scone. She’s tried ALL THE THINGS in the past to lose weight. If the pounds came off, they came right back. Her diets were restrictive. They weren’t sustainable. Her mind told her that to lose weight she had to sacrifice in a big way. On our call we were talking about a game plan for the next week. What would she buy at the grocery store? What meals would she plan so she wasn’t scrambling last minute? Towards the end of the call she said “I really wish I could have a Starbucks pumpkin scone.” I asked her “why can’t you have a Starbucks pumpkin scone?” I think she thought I forgot her goals. I think she thought I was crazy. BECAUSE “she can’t eat a Starbucks Pumpkin Scone if she is trying to lose weight.” Yes, you can. She was mind blown. Planning to eat a pumpkin scone isn’t off limits— it means that you make a plan to choose healthier options during the day. It means that if you are tracking your macros, you plan ahead so that the scone FITS into your daily protein, carb, and fat goals. The sacrifice isn’t weight loss OR the scone. It’s about taking the time to plan ahead. This realization was huge for her. The next morning, she sent me this picture. She planned her meals for the day, and got her scone. Zero guilt. And zero “harm done.”
Have you ever let yourself imagine what it would actually feel like - to quit dieting for good - to be emotionally free from food fear - to believe you CAN see the results you want so badly without starving - to move your body, without spending hours exercising -to believe in yourself -to own the scale instead of the scale OWNING YOU. - to give your family the BEST of you, not just the REST of you? If I were to ask you the most important aspect of weight loss what would you start with? Diet... exercise.... No. Your thoughts. Your mental blocks. The nonsense story you tell yourself about why you can’t lose weight. Why can’t you? You can’t lose weight because you told yourself you can’t. That’s IT. That’s the reason. You can’t do ANYTHING if you tell yourself you can’t. If you truly believe deep down that you can’t do something, no matter how hard you “try,” any results you are able to achieve won’t last. You set yourself up for failure with a single thought. You said you’d try. You didn’t say you would commit. You said you’d try because when you quit “trying” (which is what you’re TELLING yourself will happen) it won’t feel like you let yourself down. You only said you’d try. TRY saying I will lose weight. As you said that sentence did your mind spiral into “yeah right, I know I won’t lose weight because...” Your biggest weight loss obstacle is now identified. You can’t lose weight... Because you told yourself you can’t. Your thoughts don’t change from what you say. Thoughts change from attacking the underlying belief that what you’re telling yourself is a fact, is actually not a fact. And this is the hardest part of anything. Having the unshakable belief that you CAN lose weight. The belief that you can lose weight WITHOUT crash diets & starving 😵 Your thoughts create your results. When Lauren reached out to me exactly one year ago, she had a big goal. She wanted to lose 100lbs by her wedding in October of 2021.
