We're at Lihue Calal National Park, rarely visited probably due to it's remote location in the northern reaches of Patagonia. We have the entire camp to ourselves, refreshingly cold showers and the rangers have given us a crash course on what to do if we see a puma or if he becomes aggressive. 😲 . . . . . . . . #Argentina360 #igersargentina #Argentina_estrella #VisitArgentina #total_argentina #Argentina_greatshots #argentinaig #Argentina_ig #ig_argentina #welivetotravel #patagonia #visitsouthamerica #ig_latinoamerica #tinyhousehugegarden
These are abandoned cranes, once used to load canned steak pies onto ships destined for Europe. Said pies are named after the town they were once manufactured in. Yep, this is Fray Bentos. The old factory is one of only 2 UNESCO sites in Uruguay & a must visit for us Brits. . . . . . . . . . . . #uruguay #uruguay🇺🇾 #uruguaynatural #abandonedplaces #igersuruguay #fraybentos #all_is_abandoned #decay_of_today #photography_uy #igersuy #ig_latinoamerica
Our summer in the city has flown by and with only a week left in Buenos Aires, we're planning the next leg of our South American adventure. But which way to head?? We're pining for the great outdoors and life back in the van, missing isolated camp spots on volcanoes, turquoise lakes and granite mountain peaks. Autumn in Patagonia is #tempting right now. Or prolong the summer by heading north. Which way would you go? 📍Osorno Volcano, Chile 🇨🇱
To get a shot like this we need to use a tripod? We’re fortunate we can carry ours in the van and while’s it’s mega stable, even in the Patagonian winds, it’s pretty old and heavy. What travel tripod do you recommend? We’re not loaded so budget friendly is important to us while still being able to carry the load of our modern DSLRs.
The Atacama Desert is one of the driest places on earth - 50 times drier than Death Valley! And the scenery here is out of this world. We don’t know where to look next!
One way of really exploring the culture of the places we travel is indulging in some of the local customs, food and drink. In the southern part of South America, almost everyone drinks maté. An acquired taste but actually quite addictive once you get used to it. What unusual local foods or beverages have you tried on your travels?
Driving over umpteen rickety bridges and over 100 kilometres of rough unpaved track to explore the world's largest wetlands in Brazil was an absolute privilege. Nothing beats travelling in your own camper van with no worries about time.
We love our coffee! And one of our most important bits of kit in the camper van is our Aeropress. We even brought it with us into our Airbnb! What piece of kit can’t you live without in your campervan?
Last year we travelled to Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falklands on a 3 week expedition. We booked it last minute and saved thousands of dollars. Read the post to see how you can too - it’s not too late for this season yet! ➡https://mowgli-adventures.com/antarctica-travel-on-a-budget/
For anyone considering spending few days in Buenos Aires (great idea btw), try not to miss the iconic Sunday market in San Telmo. With handicrafts stalls, antiques galore and more characters than we knew where to point our cameras, this is everything we imagined Buenos Aires to be. Where in the world is your favourite market?
The end of the Antarctic season is already fast approaching but it’s not too late for a last minute deal. Check out this post to see how you can travel to Antarctica on a budget. ➡https://mowgli-adventures.com/antarctica-travel-on-a-budget/
The biggest advantage of travelling the world in our own camper van, is the joy of getting to remote places, finding a perfect view and spending the night there. What’s the best view you’re ever woken up to?
