Recent conversations with friends in Christ is reminding me that I have to devote time and energy to my marriage and my family. This means not just organizing more activities but really spending 1 on 1 time with each one of them and more importantly pointing each other to Christ. It's really something I feel unprepared for but I just have to persevere in the Lord and steward whatever I have. It was nice to sit with my Emma while mummy @speedbel went for her long overdue hair cut last weekend. We did a bible study on Jesus feeding the 5 thousand and she drew out the story line in 4 scenes. 3rd September - Happy Birthday to my dearest wife @speedbel. We have been married since 2016 and you’ve spent a third of our time together carrying a baby in your belly and delivering Emma, Caleb and Micaiah. It was challenging for you as you struggled with gestational diabetes throughout each pregnancy and had to give up most of your favourite foods. You have shown that you are a strong and independent woman, but more importantly, your desire to rely more on our Lord Jesus Christ for joy and contentment is very encouraging. Praise the Lord! So many things to be thankful for the past 1 week. Mummy Bel @speedbel had a smooth delivery and baby Micaiah is doing well too! Micaiah was slightly below the target weight at birth, but thankfully he has been drinking well and started turning the corner on day 3. . We were still undecided between 2 names in the delivery suite. But when our epiduralist was able to quote verbatim from 1 Kings 22 what the prophet Micaiah said to King Ahab, we decided Micaiah was the way to go! . It has been a difficult 9 months for Belinda - handling 2 active toddlers and having to abstain from carbs almost entirely because of gestational diabetes. Thankful to God for getting her through this, now to plan for celebratory meals after confinement! #Mokandbelfamily #james117

2nd batch of AY 23/24! It's really a great joy for me to teach 3rd year medical students orthopaedics surgery. Thankful that I managed to meet some of them for coffee after the 10-hour lecture series I had planned for them. We had a great conversation about life and the struggles we have in common. . It's such a blessing to speak to general practitioner colleagues about joint preservation at the launch of the @nus.ortho National University Joint Preservation Center. My biggest joy though, was meeting Grace @gracewpsoo ,whose son Mark I got to know at @lkc.mcf orientation camp few weeks ago and we subsequently connected to do bible studies with fellow healthcare workers. God works in amazing ways. We just need to push on in His power.
