*Instagram Live Embroidery Tutorial :: Tuesday October 13th at 10am PST* I would love it if you joined me for a little Instagram stitch-along next week! I was planning on whipping up a bunch of these VOTE shirts but time got the better of me, so I thought I would teach you a few stitches and you could make your own! I will be covering the four embroidery stitches that I use most for outlining and text so grab a piece of fabric and practice along with me until you get the hang of it and are ready to make your own goodies! Check my story highlights for all of the information and the list of materials you will need if you want to follow along! Also feel free to just watch me embroider and shout some encouraging words 😘

Just living my best life sitting in my cozy chair working on some embroidery in my happy place 🌞

my heart has wings and I can fly, I’ll touch every star in the sky. so this is the miracle that I’ve been dreaming of. so this is love.

I spent the weekend making rainbows for my girl @noblecarriage 🌈 I feel so lucky to have friends that support my creative endeavors and always push me past my fears and insecurities. Over one hundred pieces and about a thousand rubber bands later, I’m halfway through this order! ✌🏻

☮️ Preloved kids jeans with peace signs embroidered by yours truly are up in the shop @shopoffthehighway! Right now we have a limited selection but we’re always on the hunt for vintage denim in great condition for your babes! Buying preloved clothing is one super easy step you can take towards a more sustainable lifestyle. I am a huge believer in quality over quantity, and I try not to buy anything unless I need it. I’ve gotten really good at mending, so I do my best to fix things instead of tossing clothes into the trash because of a little rip. But I know with kids it’s so hard...they’re always growing so you have to keep buying bigger sizes! I get it! But hear me out...if you buy upcycled clothing, you are contributing to a more eco friendly world. The fast fashion industry produces a ton of waste, from growing the materials for the fabric to the production line to the tiny pieces of plastic that break down in the wash and even to the inevitability that the clothes will end up in a landfill. It’s a terrible cycle. But if you buy quality items that have been worn (and lets be real, a lot of kids clothing has only been worn a few times because those babies grow so damn fast!) you are completely bypassing that terrible cycle and getting all those bonus points from Mother Earth. All we are saying is give peace pants a chance ✌🏻 . . . . . #buyvintage #vintage #vintagestyle #vintagedenim #vintageshop #vintagelove #shopsecondhand #buysecondhand #chooseused #vintagekidsclothes #vintagekidsdenim #handembroidered #handembroidery #stitchersofinstagram #embroiderersofinstagram #dmcthreads #dmcembroidery #makersofinstagram #smallbusiness

My heart has been so heavy lately. Maybe yours is too. There’s a lot to be mad about in the world right now...people being murdered, a scary virus that is very real and very serious, people who don’t think that at all, the president. The list goes on. I’m over here trying to be grateful, trying to be the best mom, trying to be a better ally, trying to practice self care, trying to be a teacher, trying to be mindful and trying not to sink down into a numbing depression. It’s a lot, and it’s hard and heavy and honestly I’m scared and my anxiety is through the roof. But if we don’t sit in the uncomfortable moments, how will we ever move forward and make a better world for our children? I’m angry and heartbroken and confused and I’m using that to fuel everything I do moving forward. Black lives matter. Wear a mask. Arrest the cops that murdered Breonna Taylor. Wash your hands. Use your voice to speak out against hate. Teach your children to love. VOTE.

After much dreaming and manifesting, we are finally launching our online vintage shop Off the Highway. We’ve been avid vintage collectors and after filling up @thecoyotehouse with many of our treasures, we just can’t stop. So we’re curating home goods and kids toys and gorgeous clothes and anything else that catches our eye over at @shopoffthehighway! Starting with this incredible collection of six vintage wedding dresses from the 70s that will have you living your Victorian dream life. Ruffles and high necks and florals galore! Lounge in a paddle boat while your lover reads you poetry, lie in a rose garden sipping lemonade, frolick through wildflowers at sunrise. Head over to @shopoffthehighway to see all the pieces and get all the details!

Happy Father’s Day to the guy who wasn’t planning on being a dad but ended up being the very best one 💖 we love you @timmelideo and appreciate you more than you could ever know #littlemelideo

George Floyd called out for his mama before he was killed. All of this is absolutely devastating, but that one fact absolutely wrecked me. I am heartbroken, angry, and at a loss for words. I don’t have the words, so instead I’m listening. I’m listening to the experiences and stories, the fears and worries, the struggles and judgements of Black people and people of color. I’m listening to what I can do to educate myself, to be a better ally, to look at my own privilege. I always talk about how I want to raise a kind, empathetic son and I realize that I haven’t even scratched the surface. It starts with me, with what we do at home. I am grateful to all of the accounts like @theconsciouskid, @rachel.cargle and many others for taking the time to create such comprehensive resource guides so that I can start this necessary work.
