Another flower from the same rose bush the orange flower from last Saturday grew on. Loving this variety! Hope you have a good day! #mellysflower
I sewed a thing for myself just because is there ever a point when you have enough t-shirts? And then I wore it over the absolute wrong bra to wear under a drapey rayon knit, and I don't care. 😜 I see a few more of these in my future, though I think I want to lower the front neckline a bit. This is a riff on my Abrazo Tee pattern, I played with the neckline, hem and fit below the bust.
Pretty sure today is the last hot day of the year for us, so I'm soaking up some sun and pool time to savor until it gets warm again. Most of my friends get all excited for fall and I'm the girl that has to be dragged kicking and screaming into it 😉 But once it's here, fall in Texas is pretty nice I guess. #sewingswimwear
I bought a new rug for the kitchen and I love how it pulls in the colors from my pendants and lockers 🙂
I’ve got a crop of fall roses blooming 🙂 It’s so interesting to me how this same bush produces blooms ranging from orange to pink to almost red and I even saw a variegated one. Happy Saturday! #mellysflower
Thank GOODNESS it’s Friday y’all - who else has had a WEEK?! Reasons I haven't posted many outfits lately - because my me made looks are gym clothes most of the time. This one is an example of my daily uniform. I’m wearing Jalie Cora shorts and my Texana Tank pattern upcycled from a thrifted T-shirt. #sweatnsew
Hello from the studio :) I'm sewing and watching Younger today. Tell me what you're watching lately!
Cut out a sample for a new pattern I'm working on, then I sat down to do a Story about adoption. If you're curious about where we are in the process, check that out in my stories today. I'll save it to a highlight too. And if you have questions about the process you're welcome to ask. I'm happy to share if I know the answer, though I will say my experience is Texas specific and it will vary depending on where you live.
Happy Saturday! This is a lantana flower. They come in many color varieties, but I think the pink and yellow combo ones are my favorite. Hope you have a lovely day. #mellysflower
My latest Esma Top hack is live! I cut the pattern off at the waist, used ruffles instead of sleeve cuffs and sewed gathered tiers to turn the top into a dress. Head to mellysews.com to see the whole process, or use the link in my profile today.
What I wish I was sewing - that speckled ivory French terry in the background of this shot. What I'm actually sewing - more masks. Who else is simultaneously glad you have the ability to sew masks and so.very.tired. of sewing masks? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, we have to take a moment to talk about these pattern weights @thanksimadethem made especially for me. She used the prints from my Blooms & Bobbins fabric line on them and I honestly cried when I opened them because it was such an unexpected and sweet gift. I don't know why I waited so long to get proper pattern weights, because they make rotary cutting soooooo much better!
There's a fall vibe in the air today and it makes me feel like wearing sleeves and being really productive. What are you up to? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Me made details: Wearing a Rivage Raglan in bamboo rayon spandex with sleeves and neckband from a speckled cotton jersey knit. Pattern available in my shop, @blankslatepatterns #rivageraglan #BSPRivage
