My face when someone says, “there are no good candidates, so I’m not going to vote.” In 2016, around 100 million potential voters decided against registering their vote— a 20-year low of only 55% voting for a president of the US. Political disengagement in the USA has led to lower voter turnout rates relative to the rest of the world. Other common reasons heard for non-voters were, “my vote does not matter,” and “the political system is corrupt.” Nevertheless, dislike is not a sufficient reason for abstaining. Choices are not always between a positive and negative, or a good and a bad candidate. Voters often have to choose between two good or two bad options. No matter how disappointed you are in your options, you still must exercise your right to vote. It is not only your right, but your duty to call for change. Even though it may feel like you can’t make a difference as one person, you can and you have to. If everyone thought their opinion didn’t matter and refrained from voting, nothing would get done. Remember, by voting for a presidential candidate you are not supporting them, you are supporting your country. Voting is always the best option.
Halloween decor photo dump! I’ve been feeling crafty lately & put together a few things for our place with items mostly from the dollar store! I’ve shown these on my stories, but ICYMI, here’s a list of what I’ve been working on in case you want to try: • Pastel pumpkins using ones I found in the dollar section & acrylic paint • Floating candles using battery tea lights, paper towel rolls, spray paint, hot glue, and fishing line • A vase painted with acrylic paint full of faux flowers & dressed with faux leaves • Flying wall bats using a thin, black poster board & just freehand cutting them out • The skeleton shirt wasn’t DIY, but I had to include it in this bunch 💀
Miserable, Darling, as usual. Perfectly wretched. - Cruella de Vil Of course, even the baddie Cruella needs a Day to Night look. Would you wear look 1 or 2?!
Dear Pants, neva loved ya! xo, Lauryn Fun fact: I don’t have any tattoos! I was raised pretty conservatively & tattoos are not really a part of that lifestyle. Now (at a much different stage in my life), I’d be open to getting one, but I’m soooo picky and get sick of things quickly. Spence and I have promised to get a tattoo to honor Teddy one day, though! 🐈
Power pose with a flare— get it?! 👖

I just took a DNA test, turns out I'm 100% that witch... 🧹 It’s return of #SpookySzn! Kicking it off with a little nod to The Wicked Witch of the West 👠 I’ve been looking forward to Halloween outfits on my IG feed; October always brings out some creativity in me! Although I don’t usually go out in my costumes (and won’t be this year with the pandemic), it’s a blast putting them together and trying out new tricks!

“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” 💜 Are you outraged yet? If you aren’t outraged, is it because you haven’t experienced systematic oppression? Today, we mourn the injustice of Breonna Taylor’s death... an innocent party fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police in her own home in the middle of the night. The charges filed against the indicted officer did not mention 26 year old Breonna Taylor. The only charge against the officer was “wanton endangerment” for endangering neighbors in occupied apartments nearby. That’s right, the officer was charged not for the bullets that hit an innocent woman, but for the bullets that missed. Breonna deserved better. We should all be outraged by how our current system is set up. We should be speaking up and rallying for change. We should be voting so our voices are heard. Black womxn, I will always stand by you, listen to you, and fight with you. #NoJusticeNoPeace Thank you to @vakseen for giving permission to use her beautiful artwork.
