Are you eager to love? It’s not as easy of an answer as you might think. At first you might say, of course I’m eager to love. But then, if you think about how many thoughts you think each day that are actually rooted in love as opposed to some other space, you might have to think again. _ Take yourself. When you look in the mirror are you eager to love the being you see? Or do you pick apart the small flaws that are only evident to yourself? Taking an honest stalk of our own inner dialogue can reveal how far away we are from being truly loving. But this is why we practice, not just to bend and twist the body into shapes. We practice because we are retraining the mind, we are practicing how to be eager to love. _ Take the world. What your mind focuses on is evidence of your resting state of mind. People say there’s something called RBF, “resting bitch face” for when your resting face looks serious. I think there’s also a kind of RBM, “resting bitch mind” that happens when the mind is preprogrammed to complaint, snark, negativity. This happens when the mind is set to search for all the problems and ignore the goodness. The base line of the mind gets set on “annoyed” and it actively scans for new things to worry or complain about. Again, this is why we practice. Only by seeing the reality of the mind for what it is and bringing our patterns out of the darkness will you have the strength to break the cycle. If you notice your mind is set on snark, you can change the channel. You don’t have to perpetuate the same old drama. You can choose entirely new drama. Just kidding there. You can choose peace, happiness and yes love. You can choose to be eager to love and see love everywhere, in everyone. And then, yoga is finally working its magic in you. _ You can’t see it in this picture but the bench says Bucharest in a beautiful oval. It’s been lovely to be here teaching for @wellness.festival Lovely picture by @dfgrama 🇷🇴 Greece, Milan and Utah workshops and classes next. Come practice. Full schedule on my website. You are a vibrating, shimmering being of light. You are not either material or spiritual, you are both. The brilliant being that you are sits at the intersection of matter and energy. The miracle of your being is the miracle of incarnation itself, that you might converge around a specific time and place and share the expression of life that you are with the here and now. Your body is both manifest, comprised of bones, muscles, sinews and tissue and also unmanifest, a sea of potential capable of far more than is often understood. Awakening is not about changing who are, but about being at peace with who you’ve always been. _ Last day of classes in beautiful Bucharest tomorrow @wellness.festival _ Greece and Milan workshops and classes next. London, it’s been real 🇬🇧 _ Sometimes I get this creeping sense that everything is changing, or has already changed. Sometimes I hope life isn’t leaving me behind. _ And sometimes I get the sense that everything stays the same and it’s me who changes. Or maybe, it’s a bit of both. Everything is somehow always changing and so am I. The only solid place in this world is change itself. Impermanence is the only permanent thing in the material world. _ But some things do stay the same, like love, like God. These changeless points if reference are the answers to life’s biggest questions, and through the spiritual practice we are tap right into this eternal Source. _ Romania, Greece and Milan workshops and classes next. It’s late at night and I’m having trouble sleeping, being woken up every few hours by the sound of growls. At first the sounds filter in as indistinct muffles but then they quickly accelerate and intensify. I realize that there is not one but two creatures participating in what can only be an act of mating. There is a crescendo and a quick descent into silence. These are the sounds of lions mating in the Masai Mara. _ I’m shocked by how close the primal sounds are. The first time the lions go through their ritual of seduction I assume that they would spend the rest of evening cuddling, hunting or sleeping. But, to my surprise lions mate continually when in heat, sometimes mating up to 4,000 times in a week. Suffice it to say that I got very little sleep in my tent and I wasn’t bothered one bit by it. _ Read the rest of my blog at https://www.kinoyoga.com/yoga-on-safari-lessons-from-the-lions-of-east-africa/ Practice along with me at Masai Mara on Omstars and YouTube: https://omstars.com/omstars-live-beginner-classes/beginner-yoga-for-flexibility-stress-relief-and-relaxation https://youtu.be/9bCU7zBx4Po 🦁🐯 @thesafaricollection

Why did you start yoga? I went to my first class when I was 19 because I wanted do a headstand. From that first class until I did finally manage was a total of 4 years. It took me one year of consistent practice plus 3 years of sporadic self-practice. When I unrolled my mat at home I mimicked the poses displayed in an old hatha yoga book. There were no online classes to guide new yoga students. There was not even youtube back then—can you even imagine? _ I joined my first yoga class for purely physical reasons, but when I was 22 s going through a period of depression I turned to yoga as a spiritual path to lead me to a more peaceful and happy life. Years later I’m still practicing because of that. Yeah, headstand is still pretty cool and I manage to do it nearly every day, but it’s not the physical alone that’s kept me coming back to my mat. The promise of yoga is a healthy body, a happy heart and a calm mind. As a teacher, I’ve seen the same profession in my students. Many people come to the practice because of the attraction to a pose. But the ones who stay for decades of practice do so because they found the spiritual journey of yoga. _ It means something to be a yoga practitioner. It’s not just bending, twisting, lifting. To be a practitioner of yoga is to commit yourself to the process of awakening, opening, evolving, becoming—for your own benefit and for the benefit of all beings. _ #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime Photo @alesn.photo Outfit @liquidoactive _ Romania, Greece and Milan workshops and classes next. Handstand is about determination and patience, about being willing to put in the work, to build the foundations of strength, even when that basic work doesn’t seem exciting. There is life learning here. _ We are always interested in the next big thing when in fact life is happening right here and now. We look for happiness from what’s outside of ourselves and yearn for what we don’t have when in fact the keys to happiness are in our own heart. We want to snap our fingers and be successful, but when we find out how hard we have to work to make progress we quit. _ It took me five years of training before I found the balance in handstand. Would you stay the course that long? How about 10, 20 or 40 years? Or would you keep practicing for your whole life? _ It’s about persistent, patient determine practice with a heart full of love. If what you want is just to do the “cool” stuff then you might miss the lesson that’s most important, and that’s that everything is “cool” or rather, everything that you’re doing while you’re putting in the work, learning, growing, evolving, all that is “cool”. There is no hierarchy of learning, no “best” yogi. There are only students who pour their hearts and souls into the practice and pick up a bit more love and happiness along the way. If you practice for 20 years and feel more peace in your heart, then yoga is working. Handstands, or any yoga pose, is just a tool for inner awakening. If the inner work isn’t happening, then neither is the yoga. _ #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime Photo @tiagophotofilm Outfit @liquidoactive _ Last day of London workshops tomorrow @triyogauk _ Romania, Greece and Milan next. Are you a yes/and kind of person or an either/or? There was a time when I saw the world in polarizing opposites. Those rigid lines were first drawn within my own inner battlefield. I was holding line to protect the destruction of a glass house. But when my heart softened and I dropped my weapons of protection, I realized it was a much better idea not be at war in the first place. I’m at peace with myself in a way I never imagined possible. You can be too. In fact peace is the natural state of the human mind. How far we are away from peace is just a statement of how far we are away from home. _ There are some things I’m still either/or about. I can’t think of one right now. Oh wait, I thought of one—either oranges or apples, I choose oranges 🍊 _ #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime _ London workshops are on all weekend @triyogauk _ Romania, Greece and Milan next. Always smiling 😊 Well not always but very often. I actually didn’t realize how smiley I was until I overheard someone describing me as “small girl, always smiling”. And that was way back when I wasn’t as happy as I am now. _ Life isn’t always only smiles but a few decades of yoga practice will help you find an easier smile even amidst the hard times. There have been times in my life when a smile came more difficult, and truthfully, I still have days like that. Something shifted for me and now, no matter what happens, I just have this deep feeling of faith that carries through all I do. It’s a kind of peace in knowing that I’m exactly where I need to be doing exactly what I need to be doing. For so long I was waiting for the next big thing to happen. It was a constant striving for more that made it impossible to truly embrace what is. Not anymore. _ I look around wherever I am and I love life. I am here to share the awakening I’ve had with every being who crosses my path, which means, I’m here to love, laugh and smile with every being here on Earth. _ London workshops are on all weekend @triyogauk _ Romania, Greece and Milan next.
