Hammershøi Poppy • A captivating beauty. #hammershøipoppy #kahlerdesign #kahler #iconicdesign #craftmanship
Colors for everyday life • The green color is like grass in a flower meadow and sets the basis for the other pieces from the tableware in blue, ocher, white, and yellow, which together with the green pieces look like small, beautiful flowers. #kahlerdesign #kahler #iconicdesign #craftmanship #ursula
Inspired by nature • The Ursula tableware is inspired by the beauty and colors of the nature and is designed to be a functional everyday tableware with charm and personality. #kahlerdesign #kahler #iconicdesign #craftmanship #ursula
Modern • With the design, Ursula Munch-Petersen was ahead of her time, and still today the tableware is modern and known for its characteristics. #kahlerdesign #kahler #iconicdesign #craftmanship #ursula
The shapes • The complex shapes of the Ursula tableware make considerable demands on the craftmanship and the production process, which is long and technically difficult. The result is this tableware in vibrant colors with a high utility value that will excite both existing and new collectors. #kahlerdesign #kahler #iconicdesign #craftmanship #ursula
Ursula • The Ursula tableware was created in 1991 by ceramicist and artist Ursula Munch-Petersen. The jugs with the long spout and the oval plates have become part of the heritage of Danish design. In collaboration with the artist, Kähler has relaunched the tableware bearing the original design and the original colors in mind. #kahlerdesign #kahler #iconicdesign #craftmanship #ursula

Behind the process • To turn a hand-painted watercolour into a motif on a plate, the same process and technique is used as in lithography: the colours are transferred individually, and it takes a total of ten different layers to build up a poppy print. The motif is under the glaze, so it’s well protected from abrasion. Would you like to know more about the process behind our products? #kahlerdesign #kahler #hammershøipoppy #iconicdesign #craftmanship
Watercolour motifs • The hand-painted watercolours have the familiar, naturalistic feel of classic botanical drawings, with an impressive level of detail that creates a sense of life and movement on the cups, bowls and plates in the Poppy dinner service. Rikke Jacobsen depicts the entire lifecycle of the poppy from bud to flower, and also captures the beauty of the stem as it twines, and nourishes and strengthens the delicate flower petals. Allowing the stem to unexpectedly take centre stage creates an artistic style underlined by the asymmetrical placement of the motifs on the various parts of the dinner service, which are carefully staged to surprise and create vibrancy. #hammershøipoppy #kahlerdesign #kahler #iconicdesign #craftmanship
Part of the Hammershøi range • Poppy is a continuation of the popular Hammershøi range, which has more than 200 variants. The range was created by Hans-Christian Bauer, a Norwegian designer known for combining the warmth and uniqueness of ceramics with a rational, contemporary idiom. #kahlerdesign #kahler #hammershøipoppy #iconicdesign #craftmanship
Contemperary florals • The Poppy flower is found throughout the countryside in Denmark, bravely standing firm against the elements, but as soon as it’s picked, it becomes delicate and quickly drops its petals. #hammershøipoppy #kahlerdesign #kahler #iconicdesign #craftmanship
