‘Anyone Else’ out now babyyyyy !!!!!!!!!!!!!

sunny-side up

Ignorance and inaction are a matter of life and death. Since i cannot understand the pain and fear any black person faces on the daily, i feel it’s best for me to be an ally by contributing my voice in a productive way and hopefully help awaken people like i, myself, have been awakening/educating myself Over the last few of days, i’ve been made painfully aware of the difference in the day-to-day reality I’ve grown up and continue to live in. Thank you to the friends and family who have reached out to educate and bring awareness- It’s vital to hold everyone accountable for the ways in which they are, knowingly or unknowingly, part of the problem. I’m privileged to have not had to think about or recognize the urgency in my contribution, especially as a white person. I think back to my early teen years when I was not only a bystander but a participant in joking insensitively and unacceptably with my friends, not fully grasping the gravity and history words hold, and I wish I could go back and smack myself (and my friends) upside the head and recognize just how ignorant I was. I apologize to the black community and hope to be an example and advocate for change going forward. I see you, I hear you, I stand with you. One of the biggest misconceptions i’ve had growing up is the belief that i cannot make a difference. What’s one person? What could i do? I might have a louder microphone now, but when i go to the protests and see the thousands of people showing up, one by one, i’m reminded that each and every person’s contribution is essential, and makes real change. We’ve all got some long overdue work to do, but it’s not too late to make change. One at a time; together. Educate yourself, hold the people around you accountable, seek ways to help (i will continue to post resources, donate, and protest), and don’t sit on the sidelines- we owe it to George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the millions of black people’s unjust deaths (and their families) to not let it be for nothing. Racism, and racist systems are present to this day. This really is a matter of life and death- and we have a whole lot more to do. Which side of history will you be on?
