Here's the results of my latest ravioli mold test! I am learning a lot about what textures come thru prominently and which ones I need to work on. On the upside, I get to eat all of my experiments 🤤! I really liked these flowers, and my mind is brimming with all of the possible variations! - This was a pistachio, marscapone, and arugula filling, in a white wine, butter sauce with speck! - You can expect to see my first batch of molds in my shop in about 2 weeks, stay tuned!
I think I'm on to something here! Here's the results of my revised ravioli molds. I went a little deeper with the texture, and got a little crazy with the half moon shape! They all held up well and the impressions were prominent in the cooked pasta as well (also, the butternut squash filling was delicious 😉)! - These are 3" square, with a 2" well for the filling, I'll be making smaller ones, with 3 or 4 per board as well. Expect to see them in the shop soon!
I LOVE pasta. Making, cooking, and eating. I had a brainstorm this week to try and make my own embellished ravioli mold. I wasn't sure how it'd work out, but I'm pretty happy with the results from my first attempt! - I will definitely be making more of these, in different sizes. I need to carve a little deeper for the impression to really pop in the pasta, but I have a slew of ideas for patterns I can't wait to try! P.S. These were a mushroom ravioli and they were delicious, this might be a good reason for me to start a recipe blog on my website... would there be any interest?
I know I'm always going on and on about texture, but there is something about some buttery, smooth walnut that speaks to me!
I love sneaking a little texture detail in anywhere that I can!
Shop update is LIVE! These rice paddles have been moving quickly, so if you had your heart set on a particular one, I wouldn't wait too long!
Shop update tomorrow at 12pm EST! But I just HAD to perform some quality control on the rice paddle design with dinner 😉! I can assure you, it scoops rice like a dream! - Also, I truly enjoy being able to collect and use talented artist's work alongside my own, it really makes every meal that much more special! Tonight I have @facturegoods and @copper_pig_fine_woodworking on the table.
Well, the rice paddles seem to be a hit! I've got a bunch in the works, they should be up on my site mid-week. I'll post when they are in the shop!
I think my first experiment with paint was a success! It casts a lovely warm golden glow when lit, which is exactly what I was hoping for. What do you think?
If you're in the Boston area, you can find me in this quarter's Boston Home magazine as one of the Editor's Picks! Thank you @karabutterfield for including me! It's always a surreal experience to see my work in print!
I'm loving these rice paddles! These and a whole mess of spoons are headed to the website this week!
