Immerse yourself in the culture. Shining a light on our incredible Australian First Nation Artists, who descend from the oldest living culture in the world. Please allow us to introduce you to our dear friend Grace Lillian Lee, who is not only a celebrated artist, curator and creative director, but also a powerful voice and driving force for our rich culture of Australian Indigenous talent. Over the past few years Grace has paved the way for our Indigenous people by helping foster rich collaborative networks amongst remote communities through creative workshops and empowering the next generation of artists to connect with their lineage through textiles, dance and music that culminate in culturally rich curated fashion performances. Her mission is for the artists to be authentically seen, heard and celebrated by the world, and to revive their body adornment practices that have been part of their culture for thousands of years. In her own practice, with Torres Strait Islander heritage being a descendant of the Meriam Mer people of the Eastern Islands of the Torres Strait, Grace is renowned for her body of work inspired by traditional Torres Strait Island weaving techniques and way of live, creating incredible wearable art pieces such as neckpieces, as well as breathtaking sculptural masterpieces that have donned the walls of major galleries and private collections around Australia. Most recently, Grace also founded the Indigenous led and run @first.nations.fashion.design a unique and progressive platform created to nurture and support Indigenous Artists. A moment enshrined in history. This is a cultural pandemic and the biggest responsibility of our lifetime. We must protect and pave the way for future generations to live in a world of equality. This is truly heartbreaking. It has to stop. There is only one race. The Human race. We have been created equally and it’s our duty of care to continue to share the message and support #BLACKLIVESMATTER This includes the lives of Indigenous Australians who we must also protect. We hear you, we see you, we love you, we stand with you. Our responsibilities as parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and teachers are greater than ever. We pledge to fight your fight, raise awareness and funds, protect, honor and support, till we can no longer Breathe…. Link in bio to save lives.
