It was stressful, tiring and confusing beyond anything I’d ever experienced. During my down times I would doodle, and this was one I made based solely on the fact that this place was where I’d much rather be than at that job. 1 Corinthians 16:14 - “Do all things in love” Growing up I was surrounded by people of all ethnicities, and some of my favorite people to be around were black. Something about their culture, music, art and sense of humor that always peaked my interests. I grew up a Christian and was taught that Jesus loves all of His creations. I was devastated the day I learned that there are people in this world that treat my fellow humans like absolute garbage SOLELY based on their complexion. It saddens me even more that there still is and always will be people like this. This always has been and always will be an issue of the heart. It’s the heart behind prejudice that’s the main issue here in our country and around the world. Violence gets us nowhere, hatred divides us and bigotry will always be at the forefront, and our instincts to lash out and stoop down to the oppressors level will hold us back. Part of what makes this country so great is the wonderful diversity. Love, peace, unity, it’s what we should be striving for in times like these. I thank God justice will be served and continue to be served for such heinous acts against the black community. We may be one “human race”, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t acknowledge the differences in ethnicities and celebrate the diverse cultures of the world. We need to do better, and it doesn’t start with changing the minds of racists and bigots, it starts with us. It starts with a change of heart and perspective and putting ourselves in the shoes of the less fortunate. I advocate for the well being of all Americans. Black, white, and everything in-between, God loves each and everyone of us equally. The Floyd family and every family who has suffered at the hands of hatred is in my prayers. May we continue to fight the fight as we see fit, so long as we not put anyone in harms way. Cuz at the end of the day, I matter, you matter, and that’s why I believe in times as scary as this, God is in control, and with that I can say that indeed; Black Lives Matter. #justiceforgeorgefloyd #blacklivesmatter
