Story Time: Summer Gains Tour πŸ“– . 4 More Days Until BoardGains Release: Tuesday October 20th at 9AM on @kickstarter . Covid was a blessing in disguise for me. With the gym being closed it gave me the opportunity to finish off the development of the game. Box art, updated exercise guide, rule book, logo, new board and lots of other things were completed by May 2020. And in June 2020 I got 3 new Demos of the game. As soon as I got the games, I knew I had to play with as many people as I could, so I could get testimonials and feedback. @mikebamboo the creator of @auxgodgame gave me great advice the year before and said Play Test, Play Test, Play Test! Play test the game as much as you can and thats what I did all summer! And I strategically playtested the game with different audiences the whole summer, so I could get different voices of feedback. Story Time: The Name πŸ“– . If you been following me long enough, you'll know I went through many different names for this game. It started off as fitness monopoly, then into fitopoly. But I switched that name after getting advice to drop the "opoly" because it might be an issue down the road with monopoly. So the next name I went with was Pump It Out because it was similar to my branding "Pump, Fete, & Sweat". So I went that name in 2019. But it all changed August 2019 when I was play testing the game with my Bootcampers. We had a high school intern at the gym, and I got him to play the game with the Bootcampers as well. When the game was finished he took out his phone and posted on snapchat "Board Gains πŸ’ͺ". As soon as he did that, I was like thats the name right there!! Story Time: The Event πŸ“– . The date is Sept 2018, and I just finished my first event with the prototype. For this event we had 10 players and the prize was a private in home 3 course meal cooked by chef @kevinwdiaz πŸ†The winner of the event was @lala7347 , and after the event I made sure to have some post workout eats for all participants. So we all lounged and ate and even had a bit of drinks. They were telling me about how much they loved the game but the best part about this conversation was they asked "Hey, Eric where did you buy this game?". My response was " I didn't buy this game. I made it! πŸ’ͺ". And yeah they were like Eric you should actually make this into something people could buy. And a seed was planted in my head that day to make this into actual game. I initially created this game for my bootcampers to have fun and experience a new fun way to workout. Story Time: The Box Art πŸ“– . When I was conceptualizing ideas of what to include in the boxart, I knew it had to include many different elements. First it had to include all the different settings in which the game can be played. As you can see in the cover we have the gym, beach, home, and a park represented on the cover. I knew it had to show a diverse collection of people from different ethnicities so we have Europe, Asia, Africa, Caribbean & North America all represented and the best part is I gave it a personal touch by including people I know. This box was finished during the first wave of covid in April when the gyms initially closed down. I hit up one of my graphic designers @joshuadacucos and gave him the task to create my vision in my head. And it took about a month to finish because all the revisions I had, we went through lots of different colour schemes, kept adding more things to it but it all ended up to this beautiful box and logo. Josh made the logo as well and it really gave it the final touch! T-minus 10 days until we launch on kickstarter πŸš€ . #boardgains #boardgame #tabletopgames #fitness #workout #exercise #covid
