“you don’t have to learn. how. to love yourself. you just have to remember there was nothing wrong. with you. to begin with. you just have to come home.” - black, nayyirah waheed . . . I’m not fixing what isn’t broken. I’m long past trying to make myself into something I’m not. There is nothing wrong with you. And there is nothing wrong with me. I’m at home in myself, wherever this life takes me. Whatever the beauty or struggle, it will always be mine. Not something to triumph, but to experience ❤️ Who else feels like they are coming home to themselves recently? It’s a beautiful thing. 📷 @toddcollinsphotos #imnotbroken #perfectlyme #aerialhoop #lollipoplyra #lyra #11weekspregnant (at the time this photo was taken) #saltlakecity #aerialbeauty #pregnantlife #pregnantfitness #dancer #dreamer #sunsetphotography #sunset

YOU ARE THE EXPERT OF YOUR OWN BODY ✌🏻 Since I’ve announced my pregnancy, I’ve received a plethora of unsolicited advice. I know it’s only going to continue and possibly get worse, but I just have to say this out loud because I know the prego mamas out there need someone to shout this from the rooftops: “YOU ARE NOT THE EXPERT OF MY BODY.” I know most of the time people are just meaning well, but before you suggest what a woman does or doesn’t do with her body during pregnancy, stop and think if she asked you for advice first. I have close friends I ask for opinions and my doctor to ask questions about what is safe/unsafe. “Be careful.” “Take it easy.” “Don’t push yourself too much.” “You probably won’t do that for much longer.” “You’re not supposed to eat that.” “Are you sure the baby can handle the spinning?” - these are all things I’ve heard. Some of them are not inherently negative, but they really imply that I don’t know how to pay attention to my body or my baby. Being pregnant is not rocket science and it’s also not this fragile experience that keeps you from doing normal activity. Your pregnant body is BUILT FOR THIS. I trust my body during this process to tell me what it doesn’t like and what I’m doing wrong. It seems like the moment you become pregnant, people think you lose a brain, which means you can’t make judgement calls or decide what is too much for you. Look, I appreciate it, but I’m pleading for myself and all the other expecting mamas...Just don’t! I’ve been active my entire life. I’m more in touch with my body than most people can even imagine. I check in. I pay attention. I ask questions. I will be okay and if I’m not, I will seek help from my doctor and people that I know and trust ❤️ Thanks for attending my TED talk 😂 . . . @toddcollinsphotos 📷 #pregnancyfitness #trustyourbody #trusttheprocess #pregnantlife #pregnantproblems #igotthis #aerialsilks #aerialartist #tedtalk #bodypositive

I’ve spent my whole life having anxiety about things that were out of my control. This pregnancy is a gift, because I’m learning what it really means to let go of fear. I’m choosing to not have anxiety about what might happen, how my body might change, how much discomfort and pain I will feel. Anxiety cannot Co-exist with joy, and joy is all I went to feel during this limited experience. Allowing anxiety in about the unknown or the inevitable only destroys my present moment. I feel like so far I’ve had a pretty easy pregnancy. I’m aware things can change daily as things progress and I’m preparing myself for the mental and physical challenges that lie ahead. I’m actually really excited about this challenge and the opportunity to discover a new version of myself. I know it’s gonna be hard and I know it’s gonna be painful at times...but isn’t that just part of life anyway? Nobody lives a life unscathed. I’ve learned a lot in my lifetime and have so many experiences to teach and share with my baby someday...but this little person is certainly teaching me a thing or two first. . . . #pregnantfitness #pregnantnotpowerless #birthwithoutfear #aerialsilks #womanpower #womenarestrong #pregnantdancer
