On a very special episode of @processing_podcast, hosts @zahra.rae and Bobbie Comforto are joined by @judycollinsofficial, a Grammy award winner with a career spanning over 60 years. She not only has a 55 album body of work under her belt, but she is also an author and activist. Judy talks about her decades-long struggle with eating disorders, the tragic loss of her only son, and the power of acceptance and vulnerability. New show alert! Jupiter’s Almanac is a podcast about growing and producing the food we eat, featuring the hard-earned wisdom of chef and farmer Matthew Raiford (@chefarmermatthew). Matthew is the great-great-great grandson of Jupiter Gilliard, who bought farmland in Coastal Georgia in 1874, following his emancipation. Matthew and his family still farm that land today, nearly 150 years later, while promoting organic practices and sharing their Gullah-Geechee heritage through food. In this series, Matthew is sharing what he’s learned from his inheritance, plus he’s inviting other farmers from Georgia and across the country to share their tips and stories, too. Jupiter’s Almanac is a show for everyone who is interested in growing their own food and reconnecting with the land – whether you are just starting out with a square foot garden or a seasoned farmer. The first three episodes are out now- follow the link in bio! #foodradio #farming #podcast #foodpodcast #squarefootgardening #almanac #seedsaving #gullahgeechee #southernfood @sageslarder

Saying hello to apple and chestnut season with @cookingissues! 🍏🌰 #Repost @cookingissues ・・・ Love this place - @samascottorchards - they have my favorite apple, Ashmead’s Kernel, and you can pick your own chestnuts - which I’m roasting right now with some squash. 3rd pic is an apple variety I had not tried before - Firecracker. Very good - lychee flavor as we sampled. I’m also trying to reconsider my stance on varieties like Macoun, which my grandpa loudly endorsed but I have never really appreciated. I’ll use the Ashmead’s in pie this year; when the bar was open I used them for one of my best cocktails - and will again. (You can read more about apples and specifically Ashmead’s Kernel in my book Liquid Intelligence.) #apple #chestnuts #liquidintelligence #bookeranddax
