Two years ago [today] these photos were taken. These photos are dope AF. But the experience leading up to it was even more dope. It was my first time trying Acroyoga (combination of yoga and acrobatics). And to be honest, I thought it was gonna be a piece of cake. But it wasn’t. I struggled. I was terrified. Thankfully I had THE most patient, calm, and loving soul guiding me - @ladydork (love you boo! ❤️) I learned to have more trust. I learned to be more patient. I learn that if I say I can, I will. I learned that if I believe, I can achieve. So this is my message to you today. Trust more. Be more patient. Say you can. Believe in yourself - and mean it. What’s my secret to working out while managing a busy schedule? I PLAN AHEAD. And when do I prefer to plan my workouts? SUNDAYS. It’s the start of the week and the best time to see what I have going on Monday through Saturday. MY PROCESS: 1️⃣ Look at my schedule for the week, taking note of all things related to WORK (scheduled calls, fitness shoots, partnership deliverables, events, speaking engagements, virtual classes, etc) 2️⃣ Take note of all things related to my PERSONAL LIFE (date night, friends/family events, catch up calls, etc) 3️⃣ Determine when would be the best time to block 3-4 workouts on the calendar. Questions I ask myself: 🔹What days will I need to do a MORNING workout (due to scheduled activities in the evening or a possible late workday)? 🔹Do I have any free evenings that will allow me to get sweaty in the EVENING? 🔹What types of virtual workouts will I do this week (ie HIIT, Outdoor Run, Yoga, Strength Training, Dance, etc)? 🔹Where will I do this workout? Tone It Up App? IG Live? Peloton? YouTube? 4️⃣ Block 3-4 workout sessions (30min) on the calendar - just like a meeting! If possible, I include the link to the workout so I can access it with ease. 5 years ago, I made a vow. I made a vow to use my God-given talents to be a fierce advocate for women. To empower women. To connect women. To celebrate women. To inspire women. Since then, God has allowed me show up in ways for women that I couldn’t have imagined. It is with SO much joy and honor that I share that I’ve been elected to serve on the Board of the Women in Fitness Association (@wifassociation )! To be honest, I’m still processing it all, but lemme tell you about this amazing org. 🤗 WIFA is a non-profit focused on supporting women working in the fitness industry... Through community. Through career development. Through education. Through collaboration. WIFA’s work is NECESSARY. Yes, we have witnessed a shift in the fitness industry, but there is so much more work to be done. More diversity. More inclusivity. More equity. And I couldn’t be more excited to fight for these changes alongside the incredible WIFA squad. S/o to the other amazing women elected!
